Updated 17th September 2013: Corrections were made to scores achieved after the event.
The pro-overclockers at the OC Main Event in San Francisco have finished their overclocking efforts and have achieved five new world records! All were set using the Core i7-4960X, the Rampage IV Black Edition and Corsair Vengeance Extreme memory.
The records list is as follows:
- Coolice & Dumo – Highest quad-channel memory frequency – 3,900MHz
- Fugger & Raja – Cinebench – 17.65 points (6 cores category with Core i7 4670X specifically). Clarification: It was not in the overall fastest in the 6 core category, however, thanks to the Italian overclocker who still used an ROG motherboard to achieve the score of 18.01!

ASUS ROG Rampage IV Black Edition Motherboard Breaks Five
Overclocking World Records
Engineers and renowned overclockers join forces to demonstrate extreme-tuning technologies and technical prowess at the OC Main Event in San Francisco
San Francisco, USA (12 September, 2013) —At the OC Main Event in San Francisco, co-hosted by ASUS, Corsair® and Intel®, the ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) Rampage IV Black Edition motherboard was used to break five overclocking world records.
Combining the Rampage IV Black Edition motherboard with ASUS GeForce® GTX Titan graphics cards, the latest 4th generation Intel® Core™ i7 Extreme Edition processors and Corsair Vengeance® Extreme and Dominator® Platinum DDR3 memory, world-renowned members of the international overclocking community worked with ROG engineers to claim new top scores with the 3DMark® 11Entry, 3DMark® 11 Performance, 3DMark® Fire Strike, Cinebench, and quad-channel memory frequency.
“We are proud that previous ASUS X79 motherboards have dominated overclocking rankings by breaking 26 world records since the chipset launch,” said Jackie Hsu, ASUS Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Worldwide Sales, Open Platform Business Group. “The accomplishments we demonstrated here at the OC Main Event San Francisco are a testament to what is achievable by combining world-class R&D with incredible talents from the enthusiast community.”
Xavier Laurent, Director of Product Marketing for Corsair adds “As a company that creates products by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, collaborating with like-minded partners ASUS and Intel to break world benchmarking records using Corsair Dominator Platinum and Vengeance Pro memory was a natural fit. The success of the OC Main Event San Francisco demonstrates the continued strength of the enthusiast community and validates our commitment to this portion of the ecosystem.”
Five world records set by a formidable overclocking force
ASUS invited world-leading members of the overclocking community — 8 Pack, Dumo, Fugger, Gunslinger, and Rbuass— to team up with ROG engineers Coolice, Raja and Shamino, to create a formidable overclocking force. This crack overclocking squad used their unique knowledge and experience, to push the hardware to its very limits.
8 Pack, Gunslinger, Rbuass and Shamino focused on the demanding 4-way SLI™ 3DMark® benchmarks, claiming world-record scores of E38231 in Entry, P38227 in Performance and 32268 in Fire Strike.
Meanwhile, Fugger and Raja chalked up a new world-record in Cinebench of 17.65 pts in the six cores category.
In co-operation with Corsair®, Coolice and Dumo overclocked four Vengeance® Extreme DDR3 DIMMs to 3,900MHz to achieve a new world record in quad-channel frequency.
Built to game, eager to overclock
The ROG Rampage IV Black Edition motherboard is packed with exclusive technologies and unique innovations that make it the must-have features for even the most demanding gamers and extreme overclockers. These include the Extreme Engine DIGI+ III voltage-regulator module (VRM) for precise and stable power delivery, OC Panel command center for easy system tuning and SupremeFX audio solution, for audio that’s as great as high-end, dedicated sound cards. Further features and more details will be announced closer to the official launch.
