P7P55D Deluxe + i7 860

So after winning all my goodies from the Asus Xtreme Global Summit I got them back on a short train journey to Bristol.

I couldn’t wait to get them open and have a good look inside! I knew I didn’t have any DDR3 at home though so I would have to wait....although not for long as I drove down on Saturday morning to my nearest PC component supplier and bought 4GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator.

As soon as I got home I ripped out my old Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe with X2 4400+ and put my brand new i7 860 and P7P55D Deluxe in!

I was also setting up for the first time RAID0 with 3 raptors! So this was going to be a fast pc J I could tell as soon as I booted up windows 7 RC that this pc was fast... there was no hold ups and windows appeared to install incredibly quickly! I was excited about PC’s for the first time in AGES! Mostly because I wanted to play Crysis J

After everything had installed and all was working fine, I got round to ordering Crysis and Far Cry 2 J It took me back to the good old days of playing Far Cry on my old Athlon 64 3500+ in my small bedroom with my creative 5.1. To say the least this competition got me back into PC’s big time! I now spend a lot more time on my PC again and constantly want to play games... (Not that my girlfriend is too happy!)

When I got Far Cry 2 and Crysis, they play so much better on my new machine (Partly thanks to a new 4870 too). But all the same my hardware got me back into gaming and I love the features of what I now have. I would never use anything but Asus again.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I love the turbo V remote. I can switch the pc on and off easily (I’m lazy) and I can change the BCLK frequency at the touch of the button.  I also like if I need a bit more oomph I can simply touch a button and it reverts to a preset overclock or even underclock if you are just surfing in windows.

I cant wait to be able to provide you all with benchmarks, and I’ll do my best to get some good overclocks in too. Although I’m sure they won’t be the best but they’ll give you an idea of what you can achieve on standard cooling J

Anyway, Ill save that until next time!
