This is the first rig I'm building so I don't know if this is the best choice for each part... I heard about people having issues when they mix Intel processors with AMD video cards... Is this true? What would you change? Nothing up 3k dollars! :)

Thanks in advance,

Nexor.

All you need now is a great motherboard.. a ROG X79 ... many flavors to choose .. even Gene.

Personally id go AMD (CrossHair V..ie)... but the X79 sure is sweet.

That is a Loaded Question! It all depends on what you are going to do with it, example: If your going to Edit Video and do a Lot of Graphics then Hell No you'll need a lot more CPU and Video Card Power than what you have listed, But for gaming you should be fine. I haven't heard of to many problems with using ATI Graphics Cards with Intel Systems but then again the ones who do are generally New or inexperienced.

+1 yes i use a OCZ Revodrive3 ssd but i am not very satifyed with it i expected more from it most people go for a Crucial , intel or Corsair ssd.

My next ssd will Certainly not be OCZ but ok thats my experience with it.:D

I would think twice about both ocz and antec..

I too have had issues with OCZ but could you elaborate on Antec? It's just a metal box that doesn't interact with the components in any meaningful way. I've had several Antec cases and they all did the job of holding my components just fine.

The question about SSD's is what I asked about in the tread: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?12406-SSD-s-Questions&country=&status=. I would look that over first before deciding which SSD to use. There is a lot of information there plus I've been looking up each of the drives recommended for further research as to what I'm going to use. I myself used to keep up Enterprise Systems so I know what HiVizMan is talking about with reliability and all.

Thanks everybody for the answers! But I'm still kinda confused about which motherboard to get, because I need them to be cheap and also reliable... Why a x79 would be better? What do I have to take in consideration before buying a motherboard? What makes a motherboard a good motherboard? Also, you guys are talking about the Power Supply or the SSD OCZ? What problems have you guys had with your OCZ products? About the Antec case, I heard only good things from it, and it's just a case so it can't go much wrong, right? Looks cool and has 7 fans built in at a good price...

Thanks again for tolerating my newbieness,

Nexor :)

I do think it is a bit off to come onto a ROG forum and ask people for advice when you wish to purchase a different brand motherboard. Or am I missing something here.

Asus, ROG -- AsROG ? Close -- That puts them between Asus and a Hard Place ...

AsRock being a 'Child' of Asus ... close .. but no ROG.
The rest is just hardware ... first you need a 'real' motherboard for a foundation. agreed.

Viz-hahahhaa ... at least it wasnt blue or green.c.

The OP don't really know what motherboard to choose and ask what makes a good motherboard, so explain him why an Asus ROG will be better, instead of complain on his choice.

Nexor, first thing first, what are you gone do with your PC ? this will help to choose parts, but let me tell you better Grotts make me a long explanation why he don't like your Antec DF-85, because for me it's a Dam good case, with a lot of ventilation and very , very and extreme very easy to remove and clean filter. ( did I mention the word easy) I LOVE MINE , but as Xero said, stay away from OCZ

if you can find this PSU, it's a very good price and a perfect match for the DF-85 ( look at the pic down )

ok not the best cabling job , but this case look nice with a ROG board and a ENGTX-580 , I really need to change this Noctua fan too.

The DF-85 is a nice case and as Area66 says you might consider one of the CP style PSUs from Antec if you go with the Dark Force.

I reviewed the DF-85 and the CP 850 PSU for Antec if you care to read those reviews:

area66 ... im drooling at that dogtag .. that doesnt look like The Folders Edition .. give up the
tapes ... where'd u git it ? (dont even tell me that was from the promised 'peer motherboard reviews' ...
you dirty lucky ROG ... hey, they didnt send you mine and my t-shirt by accident did they ??? hehe drat.

OP -- The reason to choose ROG over all the 'also rans' ? Awards, Championships, WorldRecords !!!
Do you want the 'best' or 'good enough' ? .... I thought so. ROG. (VolksWagon or Porsche ?)
( A Mercedes or Yugo- sorry Yugoslavia) (426Hemi or Briggs&Stratton) ... ok simple ...
( horse & wagon or space shuttle ?) ................. now .... AMD or Intel ? hahahhahaha ...(j/k)

Kip .. I always find your reviews to answer every conceivable question .. and then some I never thought to ask.(++ always.)
And No 'FanBoy' garble .... straight truth. An honest, experienced opinion. And thats appreciated above all.
[[ Yea -- It's pretty -- but is it ROGworthy ? ]] ...
and... your Harley brings out the blue in your eyes .... hahahahhahahahhhahhaa ... (i couldnt resist)c.

area66 ... im drooling at that dogtag .. that doesnt look like The Folders Edition .

that's the one who come with the folder edition one, the folder edition come with 2 tag, from memory one with Asus rog one one side and Asus on the other side and the other one with the folding team # on one side and the 1 millions on the other side.

the reviews was going no where, if you remember I ask t-shirt way before the review thing, ( I was sending Email to Brian instead of Miss K ) I participate to a lot of computer evens here in Montreal, I sell a lot of ROG stuff too, so I think I deserve a DAM t-shirt, Gigabyte give ton of their t-shirt in Montreal evens, so I have to show my color. Actually it's a box I should have receive. Would not be nice to go 20 peoples with ROG t-shirt to a LAN party sponced by Giagabyte ?

:O a case is far more than just a metal box to hold your hardware, the a few things to consider when buying a case, ease of instalation/swapping parts, durabilty/build quality, cable managment, and the biggest one of all, airflow to properly cool your hardware. With that said, The HAF X is by far the best case i've owned, and plan on using it for a long time to come.
