Hey,
My machine is running so nicely, that I've decided to pick up a new monitor. I'm definitely liking the look of the Asus range, but I'm not sure what to go for as a lot seem around the same price but with the same kind of performance.
Does anyone here have a monitor that they recommend? Maybe if you have a few photos of it in action since the ad shots never tell the whole story.

What size are you looking for?

between 20-24" I'd consider the 27" on a good recommendation.

Apologies for sticking my finger here, I also need some advice. I need a multi purpose monitor and I was thinking about Asus PA238Q.
Am I going on the wrong path?

The IPS monitor is a win win at the price point GOR52 you would be hard pressed to find a IPS panel at that price. Good choice
CelticGuy75 - It all depends on what you want to use the monitor for, and how much you want to spend.
At £200+ for a 27" vs £114 for the 24" that is a serious price to pay for an extra bit of real estate.

meh at 1080p why not just use a tv ..i use a 32" toshiba regza and never had any problems ..
and you can pick them up for what you pay for a good 24" or decent 27" monitor

Thanks for the input.
Most of my choices end up in a sort of deadlock. Asus SA is importing the PA246Q only. And that is expensive compared with the smaller brother.
They are not importing the PA238Q into South Africa.
Is anybody here from Asus who can elaborate more about this matter?

GOR52 none of the ASUS SA guys will be reading this forum mate. Not sure who the importers are but I think it is Rectron and if it is good luck getting any joy out of them. The importers decide what they are going to bring in, I do not think it is ASUS SA who make that call.

You might have a valid point regarding who imports the stuff.
I have a buddy who made an enquiry at Asus SA and was told the PA238Q would not be imported.
This was the reply from Asus SA Facebook.

I requested one of my sellers to contact Asus SA and he got this repy:
"Reply from Asus: I have checked with my Country Product Manager, we are still in the process of getting a distributor for monitors. In terms of the review I have been informed by my marketing department that PC format SA actually used an article they sourced from another country where the monitor is available and they converted the currency. I will let you know as soon as we sign up a distributor for monitors."
I am still in the dark.
However, the PA246Q is already in circulation here, but expensive:

The monitor will be a primary monitor for games & movies. My current monitor will become a secondary one for email etc. Pricing is not an issue.

As you can see on my previous post, Asus SA is giving conflicting answers.
I need the Asus PA238Q badly that I'm planning to import it:
http://www.takealot.com/imports/product.php?id=B005FM6DR2&sup=usa
I am not that technical and the "warning" (Any items imported from USA which use electricity might also need a 240V/110V converter to work properly in South Africa. These converters are not included with purchase.) on the link is making me undecided. But I think all I have to do is to get a standard SA power cord and its GO!
Am I correct or is there something else you should make me aware?
Your input is appreciated.

Well I cannot really reccommend anything because I don't exactly live international... but I did noticed there are other places like amazon.com I recalled from their website they ship it from other parts of the country... Although I'm not sure if they have one in South Africa... maybe nearby other countries...
Although the only feedback I can give yeah with Amazon.com I purchase some of my PC parts from them and I've had some a lot of Open Box items... I'd thought it's similar to refurbished items... Which I'd never expected the webpage I ordered said it's "NEW" yet gave me a open box item... Maybe e-bay has some that's nearby other countries but I'm not sure how is the conversion with the currency...
I'd certainly complain about giving me a refurbished products when they technically lied when it said "NEW" product... although I had some products like Win 7 it was sealed authencity but Phantek designed europe heatsink the box was open and all the accessories like nuts and bolts had cut out holes in the plastic... Which didn't seem to matter because it works great so far... but as far as the product retail box it did say it's 150,000 hours of lifetime yet... with an open box item I'd say the lifetime of the product if it's open box item... I'd say it's unknown since previous user purchased and returned it... which I cannot say if they used it and lowered that guaranteed 150,000 hours dwindled down to 149,999 to 1 hour... which isn't much worth the pay if it break down in a couple of months it isn't worth the investment...

If this is the answer to my above question, then you missed it.
I am concerned about if there is a need to get an electrical converter if shipped to my country-RSA.
I think that all I need to do is to get a local power cable and replace the US one.
I wish I could get an answer from the Asus people who surf this forum.
Regarding your answer, the monitor would be imported to my country by a local company (see link on my previous post). If anything is wrong with the product, I just RMA to them. Nothing lost.

The manual on the ASUS website says you are OK:
AC Input Voltage AC: 100 ~ 240V

Yeah, go with the specs over the opinion of a support monkey (I say that with all due respect as I used to BE a support monkey). If the specs are wrong then you have grounds for RMA or legal action.

LOL. Any input here is welcome.
I just want to see what people have to say.

Well well well...
Regarding my queries here about the Asus PA238Q. To be honest, I was getting sort of negative lately. Nobody with the right credentials could provide answers. At that also goes for Asus SA.
I have to admit that at one stage considered turning my back to Asus and buy another brand.
Asus SA provides poor communication and leaves their costumers in the dark.
I decided to contact Asus TW directly and they promised to reply within 48 hours (and that was Friday evening). I was a little septical but the answer did come in time.
-The monitor will work in SA if imported from the USA but Asus SA will not be able to give warranty. Well, this is obvious.
-They confirmed that Asus SA is in the process of getting a local distributor. This is a simple answer I could not get directly from Asus SA.
-As far PA246Q is concerned, it is available in SA because it was a special order for a dealer.
I was asked to rate the Asus TW e-mail and guess, I rated it as the best.
What is sad, is the fact I had to get a clear answer from Asus TW. Asus SA provides bad PR.
Viva Asus. It rocks!

Hello, I was wondering, we have similar desks and I was wondering if you know the depth of your desk?
I didn't think a HAF X would fit on top of my desk, is your desk deeper than it looks in those pics? Is the HAF hanging off the back or not?
Thanks, I signed up just to ask this haha, never seen anyone with a desk like mine who has the case on top :D
