The GPU3 core is released. This is nvidia cards only and the latest 197.4 drivers are recommended for stability. It supports of the latest GTX400 series.

ATI verson ETA is still unknown and this client does not utilize OpenCL yet.

This was posted in F@h forums:

We have a new GPU core (core 15) going into an open beta test for NVIDIA clients. This core requires a new client (see below) as well as the latest drivers (197.45). This core is the first run of the GPU3 technology, derived from the OpenMM project at Stanford (http://simtk.org/home/openmm). You can find more information in our GPU3 FAQ (see url below).

While this release is for NVIDIA only to start, we are actively pushing ATI support (with the help of AMD/ATI), although we have no ETA at the moment. However, please do not use this client with an ATI GPU at the moment.

This is the first open beta test of this new client and core, so there are likely bugs to be found as more donors try this out on more diverse sets of hardware. Also, the documentation (GPU3 FAQ) is new too and there are possibly some errors there too. However, the client has been QA'd both internally at Stanford and with our closed group of beta testers and is looking pretty good so far. Please post bugs or issues in the GPU section of this forum.

Testing it right now. For now standford database haven't been updated so HFM.net and Fahmon won't display any number but manuel calculation give me around 5.6L for a GTX 260. Which is lower then GPU2. But with GPU3 calculation can be different or becasue it's a BETA unit can only be smaller. I will give some news as soon as I have. Should be soon:)

Ok here is the update. Unit 10626 give me 1:47 TPF with 4925.6 PPD on a GTX 260 superclock. Seems a bit low PPD for a unit. I will post more update soon when I will have fold other unit. For thistime, I think it would be better for other to keep the GPU2.

it also seems that the new GPU3 unit make my GTX260 a lot less which is a good thing from these unit. Only time will tell us if it's true or I am just dumb but for now I like it.

Thanks for the update. It will take a while to get mature. But at least GTX400 cards can fold now.

Have done a few unit now and they seems to be slower then the GPU2 one. TPF is a bit higher which is no good. PPD are also a little bit under and seems to use more ot the CPU so my -Bigadv ( CPU ) also get a little drop. Maybe that's only because of the beta testing. New unit should arrive soon maybe they will be better. Stick with GPU2 for this time again.

Sound okay to me. Our target for folding is to help stanford out. The more we test the gpu3 beta, the faster it will be improved.
tbh, I'm a bit disappointed by the gtx400 series ppd numbers at stock. Overclocking it seems to have huge performance gain (not to mention in games too).
But you really need a FC waterblock for 24/7 folding.

I was looking to get 2 X 480 to OC them and fold 24/7 during winter. Maybe I will save on my heating bills:)

This morning I get a bigger unit from 582. It get over 6000 PPD which start to be interesting on my card. that is showing a bit that the low PPD was about the unit. But is a 6000 PPD like the old sometime 9000PPD we can have with GPU2??? Need more testing.

so this gpu3 client does not work for ATI at the moment correct? but works for nvidia 400 series cards? if i install will it override my gpu2 client or can i have both apps installed?

You can have both installed. Simply do the same that you would do to haev 2 X GPU2 on 2X different card. They have to be in different folder and you have to rename one of them. If you have GTX 4XX it would be nice to give us some of your result ( temp, fan speed, PPD ) with the GPU3!
