So yea, i finally got a chance to put my new comp together...
GUESS WHAT?!
I have everything together I got my antec 920 mounted and sticky padded to back of mobo all connections together ect. I go to open my mobo Cpu mount, and boom...
There were bent pins... Freaking great... So after striving for 4 or 5 hrs getting everything together, taking my time, and cable managing, I found this out...
being as dissapointed as I was...
I tried to still use it, powered it up, and yea... Monitor still asleep, No bios shows up no boot at all period... Isnt that fantastic? It was only 2 pins too, its sad how 2 pins can mean the difference in a booting up comp to a powersupply just eating at my electric.
Oh btw The pins were bent but also like they werent even mounted in all the way like they were pulled up allmost, and they were right next to each other at the very top row near the middle sort of. like #7 and #8 pin.
Hopefully it didnt break my processor as well... (if anyone can say it can or didnt) didnt see nothing wrong or scratches as far as I know i think.
So yea... Hopefully asus does Advanced Rma's and sends me a new mobo ASAP!!!! =)
Send in a rma request form a few mins ago, hopefully i have some luck for once...
God my luck never ceases to amaze me.

Oh wow... Just realized todays friday the 13th... awesome.

Aw, that sucks :( Well, CPUs are actually pretty durable so as long as there is no visible damage to the contacts I think it should be OK. Just to be clear though, I wouldn't put a CPU into a socket and power it if I already know the pins are bent. You could potentially have a short that damages the CPU internally.
Those pins are soooo delicate that I would just RMA on a brand new board but of course you could try adjusting them with tweezers or another small tool. If they're physically too long as you say though, that's a sign that something went wrong with the original board assembly.

How would i file for a new board for rma? cause thats what I want. and I literitally want it asap by like friday at the latest next week ill pay for stupid fast shipping cause you have no idea how mad i am...lol
Btw cant mess with it with tweezers or my tools, I said the pins are coming out and are bent. meaning half of the pin is practically bent and if you try to bend it, will most likely snap because its half of the pin, it would have been fine if it was only bent and not pulled out fr some reason...

Wow so just got a email back from Asus...
Apparently its my fault the pins are pulled out and bent yet it came like that??? wtf..
If im paying 120$ why dont I just get a new freaking mobo... honestly 120$ ?!?!?!?!?!
Im paying 2/3rds the cost to freaking fix it this is seriously some major BS.
Guess Im literitally selling my parts, or leaving it as junk for 8 months to afford a new mobo. Awesome just seriously awesome, waste of money and time on this computer i guess...
Dear Customer,
If you can first try taking it back to the place of purchase. If you are unable to you can send it into us but it will automatically be considered customer induced damage. That means in order to get it repaired you would have to pay a fee of $120 since physical damage is not covered under the warranty. If you would like to continue with the rma process just let us know.
Thank you,

Yea I sent brian a pm and he told me stuff and then I sent him the msg they sent me, thats seriously some BS as you say. I made this computer for tons of reasons and Folding is one of them.
You have no idea how dissapointing it is atm... lol, Im going to take a pic and show you guys what I mean with the pins pulled out.
Well heres a pic the best I could get with a focused image, and before I kicked my computer and broke everything else....

Where did u get mobo??
Cody_Irwin
05-14-2011, 04:57 AM
Newegg, Ive had it over 30 days and got to be able to put my comp tgether last night till i noticed this right before i put the cpu in wich was the last thing I did...
Update on person handling RMA for me wich I have no said yes or no to yet....
And this honestly is some stuff right here like a graphics card can break from replacing the fan with a waterblock ( I know a few people who have and even told them it was their fault as in the person who did it and they still got a free replacement) but a messup on my board before I even put a cpu in it and it obviously looks and seems like a messup i cant ? Honestly 2011 cant get any worst for me...
Im just raging I love asus but ugh this seriously grinds my gears atm.
Dear Customer,
We are not actually trying to say it is your fault. It is company policy that with physical damage it is automatically considered customer induced damage. To have it repaired with us you will have to pay the $120 fee.
Thank you,

really sorry to hear that, I would try to straighten out those pins. Usually the pins around the edge are just ground anyways. Bad news is usually when pins are bent really badly the micro leads underneath are broke as well.

I said I cant straighten them, their pulled out like they werent seated into the mobo correctly it seems. about half way.

Btw heres a update with NEWEGG.com See my bs I deal with?
Thank you for contacting Newegg.
We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. I show that the item in question is offered with a 30-day refund and replacement policy from the original invoice date. However, it has passed the return period by 6 days. In this case, I'm unable to issue an RMA for you. I would advise you to contact the manufacturer for a replacement. If they fail to help you, please feel free to reply to this email so that we may further assist you. Here is their contact information:

Cody,
Was the motherboard sold on newegg as an open box item? or indicated as used in any way?
Cody_Irwin
05-16-2011, 01:42 AM
It was not a open box item, I just never got the chance to put my computer dealing with IRL stuff such as Building my new bathroom.
I just never got the time till friday to check everything out ect. and me wanting to put it together fast I hooked the mobo up and all and last thing I was putting in was the processor, so big waste of time too i even cable managed before it...lol
Newegg said they will replace it i told them about it all
BUT i got a different person in my email responding each time, and one of them said the rma doesnt cover physical damage or w/e, but then i told them they allready sent me the rma slip ect. and they asked a supervisor before they did and confirm and said only this once they will do it, if somethings wrong with the new one i got to talk to asus about it, so hopefully I dont get screwed over and sent my mobo back to newegg for nothing and recieve it back...

NICE at least its getting taken care of and way faster than an Asus RMA would have been.

shipping is the real killer here UPS store are a super high mark up.

I try to avoid the UPS corporate stores and look for an ASO "Authorized Shipping Outlet" they usually offer shipping through the major courier UPS, FedEx and USPS at much lower rates.

newegg gave me a prepaid label from them so i didnt have to pay a single dime.
also theres nothing like that by me.
You know how much id kill for a lan fest here??? Not one exists...
Six Foot Ginger
05-17-2011, 05:34 AM
lol that's nice to hear are they any large LAN events around you at all?
Cody_Irwin
05-17-2011, 06:15 AM
nope no such thing as lan events here lol literitally...
The closest thing to a lan is like 10-20 people who are friends/family once every like 2 years and it never happened wich they try usually.
I dont even have a compusa near me (the closest thing to a real comp store) it closed down around 10 years ago and id use to go there every other day when i was a kid playing the alienwares before dell took a big poop on them and screwed the brand name over.
I walk into the mall and goto the apple store and school the apple help people and employees at their own job because macs were the first thing i used, before pc's around 6 years ago, and yea... they get pissed, sometimes people would actually walk out of the store and ask me a few questions that apple couldnt help with. Lol right???
but yea, a lan fest, i never expirience one, I wish i could but it will never happen, there are not many pc gamers as far as I know here, or even pc enthusiests who like to tinker with pc's.
People here are too worried about xbox/ps3/wii.
Western newyork sucks period...(niagara falls, Buffalo, West seneca, ect.)
Oh how I try all the time to win a chance to goto a lan/tournement thing every time one happens with the trip payed for and I show up all happy but it doesnt happen hah.
They seem interesting to goto but well welcome to where i am stuck at...hah

Look around for LAN near you, LANfest is absorbing Lan events right and left around the US. I think we are up to 20 some different locations now.
We don't have anything really out that, so if you fins something let me know.

When is the next big event that ASUS will be at? We should have a folding get together.

Make sure we all point the case exhaust to one direction, and we need to bring in some extra AC.

I would say I would bring some portable A/C units but I am guessing that we will not be meeting in florida so I do not know how they would feel about all that going on a plane.
