I'd like to know please whether ASUS "bins" the GPU core chips it gets from Nvidia...i.e., reserving the most-overclockable for the Matrix Platinum, for example.

yes they are binned

these are factory OCed so they have to be binned. if you put a low end part in here it will not last.
