My EAH6850 temperature when I'm not doing anything in Windows Desktop is 50 degrees Celsius.
While playing Crysis (the first installment of the series at highest video settings), the temperature averaged around 65 degrees and sometimes going up to 68 degrees but never above 70 degrees.

The EPU software included with the card is set to High Performance.

No overclocking done on the system.

I opened up the side door of my tower to see if it was my fan configuration that would cause the problem but there's no difference. There's no direct card under the video card. The closest card is a small USB card situated 3 PCI slots under the card. The fan on the card is running.

Windows 7 64 bits

Is the normal operating temperature of the EAH6850 at 50 degrees Celsius when nothing runs on the computer?

Thanks.

Where are you getting these temp readings? Probe? Software?

And what...with all do respect...is the issue or problem,
other than this reading??

I have been running two in CrossFire through 3 setups... 1 CrossHair IV Extreme/2 CH V Formula
Crysis2/Ultra(highest)/DX11 .... never noticed an issue.

Those temps are within the normal range.

I wasn't sure if it was an issue. 50C seems high when nothing is happening and all the GPU is doing is output a windows desktop.
I would expect temperatures between 25C and 35C for a minor task like that with such a heat sink and fan installed.

It seemed high compared to my old Sapphire Radeon 6800XT AGP video card (~2003) (http://alasir.com/reviews/sapphire_radeon_9600xt_agp/). It used to go into the 50C range when it was working at full capacity and all it had on the GPU was a small fan and thin heatsink. 70C was outside normal operating range and used to reboot my computer automatically when It reached it (usually when the fan stopped working).

The included picture shows the temperature of the graphic card.
The X scale is 10 seconds.
It sets at 50C.
Jumps to 65 when I open and play a little of Crysis 1.
Goes back down to 50 after closing the game.
