I have this GSkill 8400 kit with default 40,52,52 timings working quite well with 1.5V VDD/VDDQ. Tightened the timings some. Any room to go further? 36, 48,48? Is 1.5V adequate?
I am trying to download MEI drivers for my z790 apex encore but the download icons don't work. Tried on 2 different machines and cleared the browsing data on chrome. Any ideas?
Well I was able to pick up this kit but can’t get it stable on the Apex Encore with the 14900k. Best result was 1 minute 45 seconds of ramtest. Typically errors within 7 seconds. Using XMP1 with all timings on auto.
VDD/VDDQ 1.5V.
MCC 1.5V.

Seems to be working well here on my Apex. New FW was automatically installed with 1401. Did not have to install FW separately. Still testing a few things.
My settings are on Auto for those.
I think you will find the KS has a more robust IMC but there is no guarantee of that. My K chip never was stable above 8000.
You may also consider a 7200 GSkill kit to test as well and just keep the 8400 for another build later. I had a GSkill 8000 kit working fine on mine and was never successful stabilizing the 8400 kit until I installed this ks chip. So it may take a wh...
The contact frame might cause memory stability issues if it is overtightened due to impingement of the underlying pins in the socket. Scone is quite serious with his recommendations. Helped me numerous times. It’s part of the troubleshooting process....
You likely won’t be able to increase the frequency without a corresponding increase in the VDD/VDDQ voltage. Bumping the SAV has helped with stability too. Hard to know if it will be stable. I think you said your kit is a GSkill 8200? What is the exa...
You still may have a CPU with a weak IMC which may not even do 8000 but you can try. Select XMP1 but then reduce the frequency in the bios to 8000 to see if it will post. Might leave all other settings at default to see if that will work.
