Crosshair V new build: downloads constantly interrupting on all web browsers?

After all the help received yesterday, I have been sent back for more advice!

The motherboard is a Crosshair Formula with just the Intel LAN, rather than the Thunderbolt. On IE 9 (*spit*), Google Chrome and Firefox, every download from the smallest to the largest constantly interrupts. Husband has tried downloading the same files on his laptop and on my PC (both of which are on the same network as his new build) and on those there is no problem with downloading any files.

Is there some tweak to the settings required, or is there a fix for this out there somewhere, please?

    Thanks in advance!

What settings have you enabled or disabled in the BIOS?

Without any of those details it is pretty much impossible to offer any input.

Is your cable perfectly sound? Check that the connections are firmly seated in both ends, router and PC.

So far as he's aware, there's nothing in the BIOS to alter. The cable is fine; standard CAT 5, web access is fine, been browsing with no difficulties at all. It's just the downloading that is an issue.

(In other words, whatever the default settings are is what they will likely be, I suppose.)

Aw, thanks, DaemonCantor! Really appreciate it.

I did a search along the lines of the thread heading but couldn't find any results, hence asking the question. I Googled it, too, and drew a blank. Honest, I do try and exhaust all possibilities before asking - could have saved him several hours of screaming and tearing his hair out yesterday had we asked sooner!

Your welcome, Here's the last thread that I had seen on the issue. I'd don't know if it's the exact same thing but who know it might give an idea what and where next. http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...op-out-issues.

I do hope it helps but it is a little old...

Aw, thanks for that! He had the very latest Intel driver but hadn't yet installed it. He'll give that a whirl (when he an drag himself away from Civilisation V!).

Installed the latest drivers and it is STILL happening. 'Server method writelog failed'.

I think I read on the Windows 7 forum that this sort of thing could happen (some sites misname their downloadable files and that causes confusion?) but I don't know was we run Win 7 x64 on everything.

The internet connection is stable. Still using the CAT5 cable to connect up in the hope that that may assist but no joy.

Is there any place in the BIOS where you can fiddle with things, please? Recommended settings?

It just stalled again on 99%. He says it's as though it just times out, as though it doesn't download quickly enough so the connection cuts itself off.
