I use it for Back Drop settings and such, it's a lot easier to use than Maya at times plus the Camera controls and Facial importing are fantastic and easy to use. Halflife 2 they used Poser 7 and 8 to create the Facial Movements for speech and expressions. Also Daz and Renderosity have special libraries that only work with Poser.

i am wanting to try my hand at making some backgrounds and or just random pics, but my experience is about -40 when it comes to making anything. To say Im a newb doesn't quite touch it. Is there any tips some of you veterans have?

Play with it, learn, be creative, don't worry if it doesn't look right just keep hacking at it. Basically the same thing you do with OC'ing your computer just takes longer. Then again some people are naturally in tune with this stuff and learns quicker.
