Before you install Windows on your Vertex 3, I would advise you to check OCZ's site for the latest firmware. Last I checked it was v2.15.

Is the SSD drive plugged into the Intel SATA port ? Does your drive show up in the BIOS ? What is the SATA CONFIGURATION set us " IDE, AHCI " ? Might want to try to install the drivers for the SATA ports and the firmware for the SSD DRIVE. Most recent one is 2.15 for your Vertex3 SSD drive .

    * * neo beat me to the punch on the firmware.

    * * Make sure when you update your firmware on your SSD you want it to be plugged in as a slave drive. Courtesy of OCZTECHNOLOGY's website " Drives must not appear as "Drive0" for updates. Please ensure update is not performed on a disk set to primary. "

If you need help installing the SATA drivers after you already installed windows 7 OS here is the trick .

    Inside Windows 7 .

    1. Click on your start button(orb) type in "regedit "
    2. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlset / Services
    3. Open msahci
    4. In the right field left click on "start" and go to Modify
    5. In the value Data field enter "0" and click "ok"
    6. exit "Regedit"
    7. Restart PC get into the BIOS and in the SATA configuration choose ACHI , PRESS F10 to save and restart the PC

the ssd is plugged into the sata 6g port red one sata config is ahci done the regedit thing was already set to 0 i beleive the red ports are on the marvel controller so i should be using the grey sata ports instead as they are the intel am i understanding you correctly but the grey sata ports wont give me the full potential of my ssd but the marvel controller on the red ports is crap basically yes?

Did you install the Marvel driver for those ports ? Have you tried updating the firmware on your SSD ? OCZ doesn't recommend updating the firmware on the BOOT ssd drive You would have to make the SSD drive a slave booting into a PC with windows in it and update it that way.
