    The graphics card has to be capable of portraying the image at 120HZ refresh rate which it isn't. The thing that gets me is that they USED to be. I remember being able to use 120Hz with my older graphics cards and CRT monitors (10 yrs ago). Today's graphic cards are geared towards LCD Monitors with a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz. It does not matter what the receiving unit is capable of and what cables you have if the graphics card cannot do 120Hz. Just go in 'Screen Resolution/ Advanced Settings' and click on 'list All Modes' to see what your graphics card is CAPABLE of.
    I knew this prior, but somehow you had made me think that a card was made with that capability. I just had to find out for myself. I would love to watch my movies in 120Hz, but I don't think it is going to happen just yet.

    120hz works fine in 3D mode

    First of all 120hz works just fine in 3D Mode. But there are some issues in desktop mode.
    Unfortunately I'm suffering also under these tearingissues. I read in another forum, that a bad cable
    would cause this problems. So I tried different setups.

    1. Monitor included DVI-D Cable -> 120hz flickering Desktop, 3D-Mode fine
    2. Two different High Quality DVI-D Cables -> 120hz flickering Desktop, 3D-Mode fine
    3. High Quality HDMI 1.4a Cable -> Max 60hz
    4. Apple Mini DP-DVI-D Cable, both DP Ports -> Max 60hz
    5. Active Mini DP-DVI Adapter with DVI-D Cable, both DP Ports -> Max 60hz
    6. Mini-DP-DP Adapter with High Quality DP-Cable, DP DVI-D Adapter, both DP Ports -> Max 60hz

    So I tried every possible way of connecting the 7970 to the Samsung 120hz Display.
    Unfortunatly my Monitor has no direct DP-Input. Thats why I had to work arround with these adapters.
    So I can not say, whether a pure DP-connection works.
    But I read, that there are no issues in desktop 120hz Mode, if you use only a DP Cable.

    Here is a proof of 120hz mode:

    Also the new 12.2 Driver has the same problems.
    HERE you can see the rest of my system

    Hope there will be a solution soon. Cause there is a big difference in 120hz gaming.

    Because DP has a different interface it no compatible with HDMI or DVI you need a passive converter to use ether with DP its because the DP interface can support more than just video and audio it can be use to transfer data like USB, So like any converter your limited to only 60Hz.

    Damn, so the bottom line is that using a LED T V, you are stuck with 60hz as the only inputs are HDMI, or VGA

    Yep the only way you going to get 120hz is if your video card supports 120hz though HDMI or your tv has a DVI-D port.

    Well i go my Mini-DP to DP cable and it only support 100 or 120hz and the glitch is gone so seem to be related to DVI-D.

    So don't go with DVI-D on the Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7970 graphic card ? I am planning on getting that card and plug it into my LCD 46" TV via HDMI . My TV doesn't have DISPLAY PORT. Will the glitch still be there if I do a DISPLAY PORT TO HDMI ? I spoke to my TV manufacture and they said my TV would do 120hz.
