Thread: HD 7970 and 120Hz problems

    Well DVI and HDMI are cross compatible both have the same amount of pins, But DP isn't cross compatible you need an adapter and even then it wont support 120hz, If your TV supports HDMI 1.4a 3D 120hz you should be able to use a HDMI cable, I dont have a TV that can do 120hz so i cant tell you if the card can do more than 60Hz though the HDMI port, another option is to buy a DVI-D to HDMI cable which should support 120hz but you will get the glitching which i think is related to drivers because all 7950 and 7970 has this problem no mater the brand, Not sure why the DP doesnt have the same problem maybe because DP has head room when DVI-D is maxed out.

    I don't think my TV has HDMI 1.4a . My TV is an 09 model Samsung LN46B550K1FUZA

    That's not my model. I don't think it will matter to me cause I don't play PC games . So I will be ok with 60hz

    Even with using DP im getting random glitches and signal drop outs were ill have to turn my screen off and back on.
