    Sabertooth 990FX SATA3 Issue

    Hello all!

I seem to be having a bit of a strange issue...

    Specs
    Sabertooth 990FX 0901 BIOS
    FX-8150
    Kingston HyperX T1 8GB (2x4GB)
    Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD
    2 PNY GTX 560 TI's SLI
    Corsair AX850

Basically my issue has to do with poor SSD performance.

When benching the SSD I am getting about 480MB/s read (which although is less than advertised, that is to be expected and not bothering me) but only get around 170-180MB/s write speed (which is a *lot* less than the 500MB/s advertised)

Drives are set to AHCI, and I have done multiple clean installs of windows 7 (x64).

Yes, I am using the SB950 SATAIII ports, and I have tried multiple ports.

Also, Just for giggles I tried to RAID the SSD with another one. After finally (was quite a hassle) getting windows installed on the RAID0 array I ran another bench using CrystalDisk and got about 780MB/s read (not quite as high as I was expecting, but w/e) but still was only getting around 200MB/s write.

Is this an issue with the controller? I am kind of at a loss here...

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello mate

Is there any particular reason you are not using the RAID setting in bios? I might have misread your post so forgive me it is very early in the morning.

When I just had the single SSD it was set to AHCI in the bios, then when I dropped another drive in I switched it to RAID (Legacy drivers, because I couldn't figure out how to boot the OPROM for the UEFI RAID)

Yeah reading your post again I see where I misunderstood.

Your write speed does seem a tad out, I am not planning on putting up the Crosshair board till the weekend but when I do I will test in raid and see what is going on.

    Thank you!

    I appreciate it!

On a side note, I opened a case with Kingston on the issue and they built a test bench as best they could (they had to use a erm, different... manufacturer's board since they didn't have one available, but same chipset/sb) and were not able to duplicate my issues.

I hope I don't have to RMA, it would be a hassle to dig this thing out of the case!

    Thanks again!

    Hey there HiVizMan,

I was just curious if you had made any headway on this yet.

If not, no big deal. Thanks!!!
