Seriously - When you buy complex electronic gadgets like laptops these days, you do want to protect yourself against the possibility of a defective product. See this thread: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...oining-you-all..
and pay attention to this post: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...ll=1#post67178
I think we ought to swap residences while you're testing out your new system. You could come to the sunny, fun-filled desert of Arizona, and I could take your place on your dreary, humid Caribbean island...
I'm quite happy with my G74SX-A1. Here's a picture of me the day after delivery...

Got ya! Jest kiddin' again...
So do your testing ASAP after you get YOUR G74SX. You don't want to end up like that guy!

First post! I, too, got suckered by TigerDirect and their sweet sweet 18 month interest-free financing. But I knew I wanted a new Asus laptop for awhile--they're all I buy these days--so I figured this was a good time to pick one up.
The only thing that concerned me was the memory--500 GB can be eaten up fairly quickly if you're doing a lot of stuff. I did buy a 128 GB Crucial SSD to go with it, since I've heard people use those for the OS and then put everything else on the regular hard drive. But can both drives be built into the laptop simultaneously, or do I need to run the 500 GB drive in an external enclosure? (Apologies for noob question, I rarely mess around with the guts of my PCs.)
EDIT: Just to not be a total noob--I did use the search function for my question and this thread looks helpful:

Check out this thread: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...X-Internal-HDD
The G Series laptops have 2 drive bays. If you've purchased a system with a single HDD, the drive caddy and SATA board/cable for the 2nd HDD are usually (but not always) somewhere in the box.
