MarshallR@ASUS has posted "For example: every Nvidia driver since 267 on the site has had an S3 bug with the 560M." That is his reason why ASUS has not updated the video driver since that version on the ASUS download site. See http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...ll=1#post78023

If I was in your situation, I would attempt a clean boot and see if you can reproduce the issue. If not, I'd try uninstalling applications to see if I could find the one responsible.

I just recently set up my brand new g74sx and i had the exact same problem, it did not seem to go to sleep all the time and when i came out of sleep it would start locking the mouse and keyboard and eventually the whole computer.

    I think i finally fixed it ,
1: I did two things today, one i updated to bios to version 203
2: i disable the wireless mouse setting in the device manger where it was set to "allow this device to wake the computer".

I was baffled because i would close the lid and the next time i opened it, it was not sleeping. it appears that when i put the mouse down, it woke the computer. I suspect the wake would sometimes be sent befor the sleep completed, resulting in a conflict or unstable state.

I am not sure if bios update had any effect but who knows.

since i made these changes just a few hours ago, it has gone into and out of sleep without any noticable issues.

+1 Interesting Info, @Gajets! You may also help folks who report their system wakes up unexpectedly - not realizing it could be caused by mouse configuration.

Sorry to say it did not actually fix my hang/stall problems, Maybe happens less often but still happens.
but it did fix the unepected wakeup. it stays asleep now.
I found a post on microsoft where the user claims it get fixed if you open the DVD when it gets into this hang/release cycle mode , sound silly but i will try it anyway.
Also some people report problems with USB3.0 driver for fresco logic , will update that tonight as well.

I managed to get the laptop exchanged, and the new one is working really well. However Im still having trouble with the warranty. For some reason ASUS wont let me extend the warranty past one year (Although I believed that the warranty for these machines assupposed to be two years!)

Anyway, with the old laptop, I believe it was a more serious underlying issue, as a week later, the laptop just completely stopped working. I couldnt turn it on at all. I think the motherboard was fried as pressing the power button did nothing, however the AC and battery were fine (The hard drive apparently was also damaged).

There should be a warranty sticker on the bottom of your G74. It clearly states the duration of the warranty.

    Hi BrodyBoy

Im not sure what the warranty sticker should look like.
I have 2 stickers at the bottom. One is a Windows 7 sticker with my product key, and the other is an ASUS sticker with my serial number and CN

I dont see and mention of warranty

It's not listed on the Asus sticker? (It should be right under the Check Number...listed as WARRANTY: 24M)

Where did you buy your computer?

    Hi BrodyBoy

No, the sticker cuts off after the CN. I brought the computer here in Australia from an eBay seller called best aussie electronics
