    Question Internal HDD problem

Well I finished my build a few days ago (specs in my sig) and today after I have finished installing, optimizing and configuring everything, I tried to plug in my hard disk drives from my previous computer so I could get the files over to my 2TB disk i have in this build.

First of all i plugged only one HDD at a time using the Intel Sata 3 port. Unfortunately i noticed that the disk was not being seen in BIOS and once I entered Windows it wasn't seen in Explorer either. I used Disk Management and also Intel Rapid Storage, and the disk appeared in them both, but in RAW format o.O

ALso the whole system was really slooooow and sluggish. After a few attempts of restarts and checking the BIOS etc, I droped the effort.

Any ideas ? I just want to get the files off of these 4 disks.

    I appreciate any help.

    Nikos

P.S: all those 4 disks were just storage disks in my previous build, and if it matters thay are Sata I disks, not sata 3 (quite old 2006 models)

If all else fails get a USB/SATA adapter. I got mine on newegg for $20 a couple of years ago and it was well worth it. I'm not sure what would be causing that issue. Sometimes if you have your OS drive on the wrong SATA header it messes with things. Start there, if it is on sata1, then move it to another.

First of thanks for the suggestion.

BUT... this is really weird, while i tried everything I could think of to get HDD to be recognized properly, it wouldn't.

So I thought I might try (as a last resort) to change SATA port... and voila ! I connected it on the Asmedia controlled Sata port and it worked flawlessly; while the Intel-controlled port wouldn't... I have no idea till now why the Intel controlled port wouldn't recognize the disk and also kinda worries me that it might be a hardware (bad port ?) problem.

For the time being I have populated 3 of the 4 Asmedia sata ports and all 3 disks were recognized (both in bios and in windows) perfectly and work fine.

I'm out of ideas about this... Maybe Intel's RST software is to blame ?
