Clarification on the Asus 7970 Direct CU ii

Hello, i want to buy one of this cards but there´s some rumors around that the vrm´s are constantly reaching high temps 100cº + , this is a design issue or is it normal ?

Also most users are reporting not being able to clock higher then 1200, normaly reference boards are getting up to 1300.

Here is a thread about this Specific card and has multiple users having this problems. http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1670759&page=22

Can anyone shed any light on this issues?

I got my card yesterday and its VRM get really hot. Stock it hit 106c when playing Tera. 1125/1575 it hit 112c then after 1-2 minutes it locked my computer up and i had to reboot.

Im not sure why Asus would release a card that is getting this hot. The cards out on the market right not does not have the same backplate as the picture here on ROG early february http://rog.asus.com/wp-content/uploa...-5-799x621.jpg The cut they have made above the E for the VRM is not there on my card, nor anyone else´s right now.

Also http://www.behardware.com/news/12153...lt-report.html this does not sound good. Temps not being accurate and a total overheat.

Im really close to returning my card atm. When you pay this much for a card you expect some value for the money to be honest.

Not sure if someone from Asus posts here, but could it be true we are getting the Pre cards which you also sent out to reviewers, which did not work good at all(bad overclocking, voltage increase didnt help). Sounds like the stuff i have problems with, increasing my voltage doesnt help at all.
