How did you get the start button back ? Did you use a registry hack ? Thought they removed that reg hack in the Consumer Preview.

Don't like the Metro UI but I do like the ribbon in the Windows Explorer windows. Guess I am sticking with Windows 7 for a while until they make the METRO where you could disable it . I understand if your using a Tablet or a touch screen monitor but not on a desktop. This is just my opinion .

I also have my own PC Repair business, and email is about 60% of my existing customer communtication, and about 80% of my new customer communication. I have the preview pane enabled in MS Office 2010, and it works great for me.
Now about Windows 8. My main concern being a CEH and paranoid about my personal security, is MS having my info in a "cloud." There is however the "local logon" option in W8. I do not see the "average person" liking windows 8 at all! The "average" person doesn't like extreme change. I know i will be getting lots of business from this OS, but it the type of business i don't want. The nagging questions, and complaints about "stupid" things that end up being PEBCAK due to lack of know how.
I see windows going in a good direction with having a tablet, smart phone OS, but i see them failing to make this product as it is now appealing to the desktop and laptop users. Who wants to be constantly touching their monitor, or laptop LCD to make operation of the OS easier? I sure don't and my customers with a touch screen laptop never use the touch screen part lol. When i ask why, they simply reply thats its too "un-natural." I hate to say it but humans in general are lazy. We like to be comfortable whith everything that we do. I don't see anyone using the "tablet like" functions of W8, even if they have the capability to do it. Most people like to be leaning back in their nice comfortable chair surfing the web and watching video's, not hunched over making their back and shoulders sore touching and swiping on their desktop monitor. screw that lol.
Lets all hope that like W7, MS pulls their head out of their butt and either:
- Makes a W8 version with no metro style apps
- Makes a "Desktop/Laptop" version of W8
- Gives the options in all versions to disable the metro apps, and re-enable the start button
- Allows the metro apps to be in a "list" type view, and can be alphabetized.
Just my 2 cents![]()

I just pretty much ignore the whole metro ui thing. Not at all hard to do, all I have on the metro ui is system tools.
