Thread: Crosshair V Formula chipset drivers won't install.

  1. #1

Crosshair V Formula chipset drivers won't install.

So I just got Windows 7 installed in my new system, which went fine, except now I can't get my chipset drivers installed. I put in the DVD that came with the motherboard, wait for the autorun menu to appear, click on install chipset drivers, and an installation window pops up for a few seconds, but then disappears, and then nothing. I tried going into the disk contents and clicking on the installer manually, but the same thing happens. I also tried downloading the drivers from the ASUS website and installing them from a USB flash drive, but that didn't work either.

I searched, but I couldn't find anything like this. Any ideas?

Did you check support.asus.com -> search for Crosshair V Formula and check for the latest Chipset Drivers, maybe they are newer than the one on the install DVD (most of the time).

    Good Luck

Another trick you could try is Right Clicking on the Setup Program and selecting Run as Administrator, it could be just a conflict with permissions, I run into that all of the time.

Do you have a AMD GPU ?

Yeah, FX-8150. Sorry I meant to post my specs but I forgot. The drivers I tried installing are the ones on the DVD and the ones on the Crosshair V Formula downloads page on the ASUS site. I got the same thing both times.

If you have installed Win7 as your OS the possible reason could be that the drivers are pre-installed with the OS and therefore there is nothing to actually install??

However a quick way to check is to run the Win7 performance test. Could you do so and post all your scores not just the final total.

    Cheers

    Is this what you mean?

I also tried running the setup program as administrator, from both the DVD and the USB drive, and got the same thing again.
