Hello everyone,
After putting up my new rig using all the parts I had gathered in the past few months, I noticed the RAM was not working as per specifications. I would need some directions as to how to make it work the way it should.
First things first though, here's the details for my machine:
Motherboard
SMBios version 2.7
ASUSTeK Computer INC. Crosshair V Formula Rev 1.xx
Bios: American Megatrends Inc. 0705 08/22/2011 taille: 4096Kb
Chipset
North bridge: AMD RD9x0
South bridge: AMD SB910/950
Processor
AMD FX-4100 Zambezi Socket AM3+ (942) (@32 nm) 3600 Mhz ( L1I: 2 x 64 Ko, L1D: 4 x 16 Ko, L2: 2 x 2048 Ko
, L3: 8192 Ko )
Memory
Physical memory size: 16384 Mo, Type: DDR3, @MHz, 9.0-9-9-28--1T
DDR3 G.Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBSR 4096 Mo PC3-12800H (800 Mhz) (9.0-9-9-28)
DDR3 G.Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBSR 4096 Mo PC3-12800H (800 Mhz) (9.0-9-9-28)
DDR3 G.Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBSR 4096 Mo PC3-12800H (800 Mhz) (9.0-9-9-28)
DDR3 G.Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBSR 4096 Mo PC3-12800H (800 Mhz) (9.0-9-9-28)
Graphics card
AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
ATA devices
WDC WD2002FAEX-007BA0 05.01D05 (SATA II, 1.82 To)
WDC WD3000HLHX-01JJPV0 04.05G04 (SATA II, 279.46 Go, Cache: 31 Mo)
WDC WD6000HLHX-01JJPV0 04.05G04 (SATA II, 558.91 Go, Cache: 31 Mo)
The RAM should actually be running at 1866Mhz but whenever I try to change that in the BIOS by using the drop-down menu that is provided in the Extreme Tweaker tab and I save the settings, Windows 7 won't start. I'm thinking the voltage might be set too high when I try to edit the settings that way. As you can see, the timings are 9-9-9-28 when they should be 9-10-9-28. Similarly, the DRAM voltage is set to 1.65v (according to the BIOS) when it should be set to 1.5v. Somehow it makes the RAM run at 1600Mhz.
My question is: is it possible to bring the RAM to 1866Mhz by setting the timings to 9-10-9-28 and the voltage to 1.5?
Thanks in advance to all who will reply. I will not be able to see your replies until next weekend (it's Sunday night here).
Have an awesome week.![]()
