ASUS G74SX - Screen Not Working

Hello All,

Just yesterday I got my new ASUS G74SX and I must say, this machine is a beast!
But unfortunatly this morning when turning on the laptop, the screen does not work.. 😞
I plugged in my external screen through the HDMI input and the computer is working fine, it is just not displaying on the laptop screen.

I have looked thought all the forums to see if I can find a solution, but cannot find one :(...
Does anyone have any suggestions? If you need any further information I will reply asap. 🙂

Thanks
Tim

Make sure the display isn't turned off. Fn+F7 toggles it on & off.

Also, make sure that it's set to use the internal display. Hit Windows key + P, and ensure that it's on "Computer Only."

If these fails, it could be a loose video cable. I wouldn;t bother trying to fix it....since the computer is brand new, have you retailer exchange it for a new unit.

Ufortunately no luck there.

Any other suggestions?

Yes...return it and get a new one. (I'm not being facetious or dismissive. It's a brand new machine, so you should expect it to work. Don't entertain "repair options" with the retailer.....just get a different one.)

Hi everybody, I had the same problem and what I did was to watch the following youtube video: http://youtu.be/ZKWKkdCi35o
Then I realized where the position of the loose cable might be, and then I pressed gently the laptop screen with my thumb and voilá, the colorful screen came back. For the record, my problem started when the laptop (inside my carrying bag) fell down from a chair.

i recently have had a similar problem after my computer had a small fall from my couch while in its case. initially the hard drive light on the front would not turn on at all, so i removed the hard drive and replaced it again and that fixed that problem. but now I'm having a display issue where i can hear the windows start up noises and when i enter my password i hear it log on but i get no picture on my display. I have tried to plug in an hdmi cable but it gets no signal on the tv. i have read through this thread and also others (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?29506-G73SW-No-display-but-boots-up and http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?29386-G74SX-A1-not-starting-up ) and had one major question.

Will the method mentioned above in the youtube video work on my laptop even though its not a g74? i have a g73sw that's about 2 years old. i realize this thread is for g74's but i heard some success in these posts and i imagine it will work on mine but wanted to make sure with the guru's on here.

Thanks in advance for the help.
