Are the new asus gpu drivers different from the ones on the nvidia site? Also, I am at work right now and will read up on the bios mod tonight, is it hard to do and does it void warranty?

It's very easy to mod the bios. I'm a total clown at this kind of thing but I've already modded my bios ready for my laptop arriving. Not sure if it can void warranty, make sure to read the thread thoroughly. It's a very simple issue after you've done your reading.
If you feel on edge you can always just install ThrottleStop and control the issue from there.
Really can't wait to see how you get on. I don't want any problems, or anything from stopping me from playing D3 perfectly.
hey, just so you know, you cannot tell any game lag/freezing/or that the fps is low. The game seems to run perfectly fine, i just noticed i dont get as high as fps as i should. And well, i really bought this lap top for d3 also lol and was expecting it to BLOW d3 out of the water... to be honest, i was a little disapointed and was hoping the bios issue is a fixis that fix for the g74sx though?

TheottleStop and the BIOS fix covers all models with a Sandy Bridge CPU, so yeah.
You should be seeing 60fps with that configuration.
Hmm I was to the understanding if I did the bios fix I would not need to use throttle stop? Also, that links is for the g53 is it safe to flash my g74 with that file?

Also tried shutting off the bd prochot using throttlestop and tested with MSR TOOL and get the reading of 0x0004005E (E sybolizing bd prochot is off, otherwise it would be F) and i have noticed no increase in my fps. Specifically diablo 3, i bought this computer hoping to run max settings and i am getting low fps. All drivers up todate the last thing i could think of was the bios mod...but if throttlestop doesnt do anything is there any point in flashing the modded bios?

It's either the BIOS fix or TS, not both.
Can you take a screen grab of your TS? Let's look at those settings.
Otherwise, let's just hope they truly optimise for retail.I'll be unhappy if not, this laptop should be able to run three instances of D3 with no problem.
But yeah, it's still important to do away with this nasty throttling issue, as it will affect other things. Do you happen to play Starcraft 2?
Edit: No point trying the BIOS mod if you're getting the 'E' as you've already turned the throttling off.

hey man thanks for the reply. I already did the bios mod because i didnt want to deal with TS all the time. I beleive its gotta be a d3 beta issue because skyrim runs ultra 60 fps consistantly not a flicker. I do play sc2 but i just did the clean install of windows so its not on my machine atm lol.
note, just got done playing d3 beta although the fps is lower then i would imagine it should be, it never drops below 30 for me and i cant notice any slacking in the gameplay performance... thats just me tho. But it better be optomized by release or ill be pissed.

Hi mate,
I've just been over on the D3 forums and it seems everyone has taken a huge hit to FPS with patch 16. According to some blue posts things will be optimised for retail, although maybe not before the beta ends.
Once you get SC2 installed let me know how it performs, as I'll be using this laptop 60/40 D3/SC2.
Glad you got the BIOS mod working, I also don't want TS plaguing my task bar.
