    H100 with RIVE Installation Questions

    Hi All,

I know this topic has been discussed a lot, but there is a lot of confusion online. And that confuses me haha, so I was hoping some clarification to these topics can be discussed briefly. As I understand it, with the H100, all I have to do to install it correctly, with the "Corsair" logo on straight. I have to do the following steps:

    1. Use the supplied RIVE LGA 2011 backplate
    2. Use the supplied 2011 screws provided from the H100
    3. Loosen the 2011 screws slightly to provide more play to the WB and MOBO
    4. Tighten the 2011 screws with the thumbscrews
    5. Check contact between HSink/WB and CPU

My question is mainly on the steps to install the H100 correctly; the first time around; with little hassle.

    Thanks,

    amendonsa

why are you concerned with having the logo straight ??

the "little hassle" approach is to rotate it 90 degrees and skip all those steps you listed

    Like many others,

I am concerned about the aesthetic appeal of the computer.

    Thanks

I used the X plate myself, it installed without any force needed.

Oh, I didn't realize you could use the X-Plate.

As you can see here, it was advised not to use the x-plate. Glad to see you one upped em'

That's why its a little confusing personally, so many different procedures. I'm guessing there is not one correct fool-proof way.

I also used the X plate, but I did have to exert very minimal force for it to fit properly. Some others with H100's have had serious issues with the brackets on the H100 being misaligned.

    Ok thanks a lot,

I was expecting more answers to avoid the X-plate and use the 2011 backplate that the motherboard originally comes with.

Am i correct in saying that, the original procedure would be to use the stock backplate on the mobo and then if not fitting, use the X-plate?

And I am also assuming that you gentlemen are using the water pump vertical, with the logo straight, rather than 90 degrees rotated?

    Sorry, and thanks

    X-plate??

What is wrong with the original backplate?

    H 100?

    Istalling a H100 on a rampage?

Use the spacers (screws).. if u have the H 100 that comes with the "short spacers", that fit lga 2011..

Why do you want to switch the backplate?

When u get the board, it already has a backplate attached..

And some of the H 100 that is supposed ti fit the LGA 2011, got "wicked" pump-house brackets..

Some fit 100%, some dont, so well... Its a fact..

    I have installed H 100 on rampage, and X79 Extreme 7..

The Asus cooler, had a bad fitting, the Asrock was super..

So if it is the H 100, or...... What do i know..

Did your's work with the stock backplate? Did anyone else's work with the stock 2011 backplate that comes with the RIVE mobo?
