i use the mobo it self and not extra soundcard so.
ive been in to that TS stoper sending/reseaving sound at times so i had to go inn and try and put it back again, could take minuts or 10+ mins ( depending on my mood of the day :P )

I have a Maximus V Gene board which also supports the MB2. Is anyone else having a problem with the "Sound Blaster Panel" application opening on startup? What exactly is this app for anyway? Surely it doesn't need to open on startup to work correctly?
Another question. Based on your original post it sounds like you have more than just the optical out connected for your sound card? Are you also using the analog ports? I ask because my Sound Blaster Console does not display the "Speakers" option. However, I only have the optical output connected, which if I'm not mistaken means the audio should be sent in the clear to my device (an Astro Mixamp in this case) and it determines what to do with it. Yes?
the console will only show options for connected devices i think.

The sollution is both astonishing and simple and I feel evenmore for the pole I startend:
The follow quote sums is all:
A common use for the S/PDIF interface is to carry*compressed*digital audio as defined by the standard IEC 61937. This mode is used to connect the output of a DVD player to ahome-theatre*receiver that supports*Dolby Digital*or*DTS*surround sound.
Another common use is to carry two channels of uncompressed digital audio from a CD player to a receiver. This specification also allows for the coupling of personal computer digital sound (if equipped) via optical or coax to Dolby or DTS capable receivers. This only supports stereo sound, unless the personal computer supports a surround sound encoding such as*Dolby Digital Live*or*DTS Connect.See: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/S/PDIF#section_1For more details.
As it seems full functinallity between pc en home cinema set or others needs ......The extra software kind offerd for about 5 $. I am very dissapointed to say te least....
Come on, all Vote and then I will send a petition to Asus.

I followed all the steps here and reinstalled twice but the Sound Blaster Console always tells me I have 2/2.1 speaker set up, through my optical =(
Hey!
I've been trying to make it work many times now, follow the steps to the letter, but I just can't get it to work. And I think what's messing up my work is the windows 7 automatic driver installer. After I uninstall the drivers and do the first reboot (when I should do the DriverSweep cleaning) the system automatically installs the drivers right there. Now, I've tried blocking that from happening using gpedit.msc (enabling the required parameter, and just in case tried disabling) but it just won't stop installing it. Drives me crazy! I just can't get 5.1 with optical! The amp can convert it, but I used to have 5.1 directly from the computer, not converted from the amplifier. Thanks for any help you can give me!
