OC Key only with low resolution. Why?

I have the Asus Rampage IV Extreme with the new OC Key.

My Display is a DELL U3011 with a resolution of 2560x1600. Whenever I connect through the OC Key I only get a FullHD resolution.
    Why?
I thaught that through DVI I could get the 2560x1600 resolution.

    What is the problem?

Wow, what a troll face answer. How do you -1 rep?

I came here with the question. And I still have the same question. Why not a decent res? Is this something that can be fixed via a firmware update? I'm guessing most people didn't read the instruction manual from cover to cover prior to purchasing this motherboard. I just assumed that since it was made by ASUS ROG it would support the standard gaming resolutions. It seems odd to me that they put features on the MB that are only supported in low end of the spectrum. I would like to see an update to fix this or an upgraded OC Key I can purchase. I kinda feel jipped. I shouldn't have to go back to my old monitor that I upgraded from 4 years ago to use the latest and greatest tech from a ROG product!

The OC Key was made for extreme bencher's specifically in mind, and as such the tool does the job perfectly as there is no competitive benchmark that requires any resolution over the 1920 x 1200 maximum. There are other limitations to the OK Key such as not working with 120MHz monitors, but again I return to the point that the key was aimed at a segment as a added value item that does not use 120MHz monitors. We can but hope that in the future if the OC Key continues it too will be updated to reflect the wider needs and uses of both the gamer and benching communities.

Not to nit pick but could you please inform me where I would find the standard gaming resolution you refer to. I am asking because I am genuinely interested, my understanding had been that currently the vast majority of monitors sold for and to gamers globally were the 1920 x 1080 verity. But it has been a while since I did any checking and things change very rapidly in the PC industry of course.

1920x1080 is the closest thing you can get to a "standard gaming resolution" indeed, because that's the native resolution of the majority of the monitors in the market (like 1280x1024 was prior to the boom of the widescreen format). Other than that, it's silly to claim any "standard" when it comes to PC gaming resolutions because of the insane amount of different monitor configurations that you can have on a PC (surround, eyefinity etc etc).

Thank you Nodens I have always based what is standard by the sales figures for the different formats available in the past. But it has been nearly two years since I have seen any new figures that indicate a change in that trend.

I was facing the same issue and the best resolution to this 'resolution' issue was to use bios instead of OC key. But is there any future update that'll allow user to enjoy atleast the native resolution of the monitor(s)??

I suspect that as the screens that most users buy change in size and resolution so too will the operating parameters of the OC Key.
