your motherboard wont do crossfire, only sli and BTW is that the black edition cpu
if its a sli chipset you can run 2 nvidea cards but only 1 ati card,if its a ati chipset you can run 2 ati cards and only 1 nvidea card.....thats a real sweet rig, older but a good one,
Correction on my CPU, it's this one, AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103773
You are right on chipset, Nvidia is my only option if I want to run 2 cards at some point.
Welcome ktink2012 to ROG.
Please excuse me, but I'm lost here.
If your budget permits $250 now -
I would buy the Foundation.- CrossHair V or IV
If you upgrade the GrandFatherAM2CrossHair..No disRespect to GrandPa, but...
If you go with the V ... your 'some point' option becomes SteamRoller ... maybe.
Updating tech 5 Versions back ... in my humble view .. is a waste of coins.
It was. Let it go. Save money.
But - if your just looking to have some fun for cheap ... yep .. gpu's.
No disRespect meant to any.

Hello and thank you for the welcome.
I have this MB, http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD...specifications I only use for Graphic Design, I want to do a simple GPU upgrade to something with 1GB mem, dual dvi out & HDMI out, this is my current card, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121253 However I was told that my MB is NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI mcp chipset. I am now looking to see what is available under $180.
May I humbly suggest this to you http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121466, it will allow you to get the best of all that you are looking for plus the thing is SLI certified and matches your Asus ROG Motherboard plus if you decide to upgrade the Classic you can move it to the new one as well plus still be current.
... did I mention ... I love this bar.
Dc+
I would run one off the HDMI and the other with an adapter DVI to HDMI because not every card can accept both DVI ports at the same time, example my AIT RadeonHD 5870 I have to go Display Port, HDMI and DVI but if I go DVI, DVI, Display Port one of my Monitors shuts down. it was the same way when I had the EVGA 9800GTX+ I couldn't run both DVI's at the same time I had to go HDMI and DVI for 2 monitors.
