G73 Shut DOwn

Retired
Not applicable
Hi everyone,
I have been using g73jh for 5 months Whenever I play a game which uses lots of GPU it shuts down itself and when I try to boot it immediately the power button blinks and does not boot for 1 min. If I make settings lower like low shadows etc. then I can play the game fine. Yesterday I downloaded GPU-Z to see the temprature when I am playing a game then I saw that GPU Temp reaches higher than 100 and it shuts down the computer. I think it is not normal. Do you think is there a problem? Does my warranty makes fix it?
Thank you..

The shutdowns is the Thermal Protection in the BIOS shutting down your system when your GPU hits 114C. I suggest a thermal repaste for the GPU. I also suggest an update to BIOS 211 and updating the vBIOS to the GSOD Fix Beta if you haven't already.

If this is beyond your expertise, I suggest calling Asus Customer Support for an RMA, and arranging a repaste and BIOS/vBIOS flash at a local ASP location. You can get a list of locations here:

There are several stickies in this forum that provide more information.

Wouldn't doing the repaste yourself void your warranty?

Only if you break something. 🙂
