FX 8150 bios cores on ...

Hello all .. any help here would be greatly helpful. I have a system build with an FX 8150 processor and in bios the cores it shows on is only 6 .. i have a ROG Crosshair 4 Formula motherboard .. having no problems with performance that i know of .. just that in bios i can only see 6 cores active and not 8 (which worries me unless the last two come on only when needed.) System build is below. Tell me if i need to give more information. Again any help would be nice ...

Welcome to the forum! I kinda know what your looking at but I have not yet upgraded from the 965 Black, still waiting for the Next Generation to come out. but there is a setting in BIOS under Advanced Tab then in CPU Configuration called Core Unlocker, every now and then I end up with 3 cores working and not all 4 and it this little setting that causes it.

you should not need to unlock the cores, just make sure you are running bio's version 0813 or newer.then disable turbo in the bio;s.if you set your multiplier to say 19.5 or 20 you will run all eight cores at 3.9 or 4ghz

No he just needs to run the proper BIOS and turn on the extra cores... The Crosshair IV Formula and Extreme can and does run the Dozer just fine only you can't OC it as much because you'll burn up the 8 pin AUX connector and there is no 4 pin Molex for extra power like on the Crosshair V Formula/Thunderbolt

BTW if you haven't got the BIOS file for it look here: http://usa.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD...ir_IV_Formula/

You'll want Crosshair IV Formula BIOS 3027

They had a discussion on this back when the FX's first came out last November/December and a User even posted up pic's of OC'in it on a CHIVF and the melted 8pin connector but it still worked even after he melted the plastic...lol
