Crosshair V Formula - No POST / 3 led flashing after 1st successful boot

    Hi there!

I recently bought a Crosshair V Formula for my new PC (actually, all parts are new) and it's behaving strange: I can make a first power-up/boot ok, but if I reset the machine or power off and on again, it simply doesn't POST (screen remains black), with 3 red leds flashing: vga_led, cpu_led and dram_led.

If I clear CMOS (removing the battery and setting jumper to 2/3), after 30mins I can boot it again.

I have already upgraded my BIOS to version 1301 but I'm still having this issue.

    My configuration:

    - ASUS Crosshair V Formula AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Republic of Gamers Series Motherboard
    - AMD FX-8150 FX 8-Core Black Edition Processor Socket AM3+
    - Corsair Hydro Series H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
    - Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (4x4GB) DDR3 SDRAM 1866MHz PC3-15000 CL9 Unbuffered DIMM
    - XFX FX797ATDBC Double D HD 7970 Black Edition 3GB DDR5 1000M 2xmDP HDMI DVI PCI-E
    - XFX PRO1250W Black Edition Full Modular 80PLUS Gold PSU
    - 2 X 1.5Tb Seagate Barracuda SATA
    - 1 WD Green Caviar

First of all, Are you OC'in the system? Next after first successful Post are you going through BIOS and setting everything up or just going off Base Values? Because by the flashing vga_led you need to bump up the PCIE-VDD Voltage a couple notches, the cpu_led is saying that the CPU isn't configured, and the DDR_led is telling you that your running on default SPDT Values. If possible upload pic's of your setting and I know for a fact that one of the amazing people around here will be able to tell you exactly what's wrong.

    And Welcome to ROG!

Thank you DaemonCantor for the quick reply.

Actually I'm running everything on default (no OC at all, althought my gc if factory oc), since I couldn't find what was going wrong.

How and how much do I have to increase PCI-e VDD voltage? DDR running on default SPDT values is ok, right? How do I configure my CPU?

I've attached a pic of my BIOS, idk if it's helpful but...

So far here's what I've noticed (I'm still having problems):

Computer only starts after about 40 minutes off. So, if I restart it, it won't work, no POST (totally black screen, no bips and Q-leds blinking alternately (CPU, VGA and DRAM).

I've tried reconnecting video, CPU and also different RAM (Kingston 1600 and 1333) but no success. Environment temperature is around 20ºC (~68ºF) and CPU temperature is at 36ºC (~97ºF).

I have 4 x 4GB memory and followed Raja's memory guide (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...ry-Setup-Guide) but the most 'stability' I got was running the system with only 4GB (single stick) setting Memory Frequency to 1333 or 1600 and DRAM Refresh Rate at 3.9 - with this setup I can restart the system 3 or 4 times before I get no POST again.

Just to clear one thing up. Your ram.

In the one screen where your test quoted below claims the ram is low, your ram is running at 1600MHz (800 x 2 to get your frequency) so one less thing to worry about.

Notice that memory settings stays low even when I set 1333 or 1600:

I would try another PSU at this point. Just to be sure with other brand.
It dosent need to be 1000w, just make sure +12v rail has Amps

I've made new tests using the configurations suggested by flearider but got errors aswell.

I also did tests using a MTeck 550W PSU, and one Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G and a NVidia 8400, all bios features using default values, and the problem persisted.

I'm starting to think that my mb is the problem, but idk how/why. Any suggestions?
