    Question G74sx or G75vw

Hi everyone. My first post here so I hope somebody can help. I am looking to buy a new notebook to replace my old M50Vm and the only purpose in mind is gaming especially SWTOR. I have been comparing models of the G74 and then I heard the G75 was coming out so I decided to wait. So as far as I could tell the G74SX-AH71 is the latest model for the G74 but its specification look a lot similar to the G75vw with the maximum specs.
    Processor: G74 Intel® Core™ i7 2670QM Processor 2,2 GHz (up to 3,1); G75 Intel® Core™ i7 3720QM Processor 2,6 GHz (3,6)
    Chipset: G74 Intel® HM65 Express Chipset; G75 Intel® HM77 Chipset
    Memory: G74 16 GB DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM; G75 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz SDRAM
    Graphic: G74 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560M 3GB; G75 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 670M 3GB
The rest of the specs are basically the same with both having Full HD and 3D capability.
So my question basically is this. Is it worth it? Should I buy the new (more expensive) G75vw or go for the G74SX-AH71? Thanks for the help

Hi and Welcome to the ROG community!

I don't want to tell you which notebook you should go for, but you can have this in mind:
    • Better options to clean the fans on the G75 than G74
    • One downside on the G75 is that Asus has went back to use two RAM slots under the keyboard and the two others is easly access able under the notenook. On the G74 all four RAM slots is available under the notebook.

Then the rest between these beasts is very simular constructed with HDD/SSD bays, wifi card location.....
These was the first things I could come up with so perhaps others will step in and give their opinion about what they think

    EDIT:
    • If I'm not wrong you have the possibility to RAID the HDDs

I don't know if SWTOR needs the num lock key, but the G74 doesn't have it.

As I have understood about the num lock key is that you cant activate the number pad as you call it @MinhMMK..... the only thing that happends when you push that button is that the calculator pops up :P A new hotkey for the calc xD

Definitely G75 is better than G74 due to the new IB processor and GPU.

As I know, G75 is also throttled, but "only" at 1.2GHz instead of 798MHz like G74 (in some conditions like full load CPU+GPU). The good is that Asus activated AES instruction in G75 procs (G74 has not AES activated, needing a modified bios).

If you have the bucks get the G75

    PCorreiAMD----Welcome to ROG.

G75 ... is all the things the G74 is not.. and more importantly
    much more that it is.

    ROG's flagship .... this year's Best.
The price of the G74 -- will begin to drop ... like a rock.
Could be the better 'deal' ............ but if you have the coins-
-G75 hands down--yes, worth the difference in $$$.c.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes and for helping with my dilemma. Why couldnt Asus just put the almighty gtx580 to make everything easier? They keep sending out notebooks out with average graphics while Dell gets all the fun. I hate that I love Asus so much but its already my 3rd notebook and they are reliable. Any idea if we can expect better than the gtx670m on an Asus notebook still in 2012?
