I was wondering if anybody has this combination of mobo and video card. I was looking at maybe two of the sapphire 7970 dual x or two of the XFX double d 7970 black editions. Any help or other ideas greatly appreciated.

Yeah I have the a few of the Sapphire cards and the motherboard to, what is it you wished to know?
It works just fine - much better than the GTX680's which are giving people hell in SLi and the CHV

Guess I should have put that too. lol
The dual x has the two fans and the shroud around them sticks out a lil farther than the dual slot. Is there any problem running two in crossfire mode?
I buy heaps of graphic cards and overclock the heck out of them, and have been doing this for years now. I stopped buying the factory overclocked graphic cards ages ago. There is nothing that they bring that I am not able to do just as well for a huge saving with software.

You might have to put one card in the bottom slot if you do go the bigger card route. Look at the two images and you will see how tight the fit is with normal dual slot cards.

Thanks for the pics. That was exactly what I was wanting to see.
A lil off topic but is it normal for the northbridge to run around 50 degrees celsius? I got that temp from cpuid hardware monitor.
Yeah that is pretty much normal for the motherboard.

That's what I figured but I thought I would ask.
You said you get a lot of different video cards and overclock them. Do you have any recommendations? Am looking for best performance.
The honest answer is not what most people want to hear my friend. Most folks want to believe that buying a card which costs a bit more is going to bring them a better overclock. That somehow the manufactures have selected the best clocking cards and put them to one side and use those cards for the super special OV versions. Sadly not. Every reference card will do the frequency the so called special OC version do.
I only buy the cheapest reference cards that I can find. I then use which ever utility is best suited for that card to overclock that card/s.
So if you want 7970 cards find the cheapest you can buy from a dealer that is reputable and you are good to go. Seriously you will clock any reference card to 1100MHz on the core with a reference cooler.

Sounds good. Thanks again for the info.
Cheapest may have little higer noice level(do reference cooler), but if you watercool it (or install aftermarket cooler), it aint a problem.
