    PSU Connection Questions.

    Hello,

First of all i've been seening people saying that:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seasonic-X-8...7&sr=8-2-fkmr0

Edit: i do intend to run 2 graphics cards out of my PSU & Pheobus Sound Card.

is a really awesome PSU? I've always stuck with Coolermaster and so forth, I'm looking to buy a PSU and i was wondering if this would be worth that upgrade? (I think most people are abit unsure when buying from a new company they haven't used before) I also intend to buy pre-selected sleeved cables so this is the real reason why i made this thread.

I was wondering if i could get away with buying these:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/BitFenix-30c...8&sr=1-2-fkmr0

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/BitFenix-20c...8&sr=1-3-fkmr3

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/BitFenix-45c...6429328&sr=1-1

and just running them from the connectors off the PSU (I am going to do some colour coded type cables and i really do not fancy the standard ones that usually come with PSU's.

So would this work?? If so then i got the perfect PSU/Cable build idea, Also if it does does anyone have a UK website i could find colored cables for such like: 24pin/sata/molex and so forth?

Seasonic isn't a new company. Many of the PSU's with other names on them have the same internals.

As to extensions. Generally they should be fine. Adding length and connectors to wiring adds resistance and generates more heat but as long as you are not maxing out the rating for the cables you will be fine. I just wouldn't add a ton of extensions in a chain (not that you would anyway ).

What i am looking towards is this:

Instead of having the standard black/mulitcoloured cables that a PSU gives, i'm looking to use these coloured ones instead of those and have my connections to hardware done through them (so it looks like i sleeved them) The hardware i would use 2 HDDS / Optical Drive / 2 GFX / 1 Soundcard / CPU .. i aint a person to connect alot so thats hense the reason to why i want a Modular PSU i'm tired of those 15 other cables i do not use lol.. also I've looked into watercooling, Would i need to go higher on watts to run a cooler & 2 x 560 Ti's? I'm thinking one single look to CPU ( or would a H80 do just as good?)

Afterall, i want a really sexy looking computer along with a nice overclock and looking clean inside too.

Edit: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BitFenix-20c...8&sr=1-3-fkmr3 , this is the furthest i'd proberly go with the chain effect would this work out ?

H-80 will work well, unless you are going for some really high overclocks. That is a great powersupply so your good. Seasonic is the oem of some other brands of powersupply and if I'm not mistaken they have been around since 1975.

I was thinking 4.6-4.8ghz and trying to keep decent voltages and keeping a silent type setup, But what the pros/cons towards spending that extra cash and how much really is it to get a decent water cooling setup vs H80? and with a WC kit would i need to get a much higher PSU?

Also running a H80, how well would that do for bringing temps down? I'm running a $15 cooler at the moment and it's able to handle 4.4ghz/4.8ghz but it sits at 80'C max load (4.8) vs (4.4) at 69'C

Is there some where i can get some solid evidence on this PSU too, as i said i've stuck with coolermaster for years now so i don't see how this is any better than a coolermaster brand?

I do see water cooling as a nice idea but if its £300 for the same performance of a H80 then.. yeah ridicilious =P

I've been looking around and the extension cables would work the way i want them to, I will grab a sample cable to test it out (i have a slot open to place it into my current PSU to get the feel for the idea. So in short don't go chaining too much cables together ok got that as i will properly use very little connectors this will be nice idea.

80c wow you could cook dinner on that. I run AMD that is a horse of a different color when it comes to temps. My H-80 keeps me in the mid 40's when running intel burn test my clocks are at 4.6 atm. I would not say same performance. H-80 has a thick 120mm rad running a 2 fan push pull swt up. Now lets say you have a 240 with 4 fans or a 360 with 6 fans that will cool better. Close to room temp I'm sure. I find the H-80 more than enough for my setup your mileage may very as they say. As far as the psu goes if you feel better with coolermaster then by all means get one. Just make sure you get one with the power that you need.

BTW I know I run a corsair HX 1000 psu for my own machine, but in all my customer builds I only use seasonic. A bit more exspencive but very happy customers.

Ambient Temps is around 23-27'C here, as i said its just a cheap $15 cooler to get the PC off stock while i get my next pay packet, Okay i think i'll go with the H80 then and save my self some money and i have a awful Antec 300 case which doesn't exactly supply me good airflow either >.<, I have alot to work on but hopefully the setup i am going for will look sweet as hell and i will post some pictures up when there done. Thanks alot for your help it's really appreciated and i'll look over the links you have given me here.

One last thing: 850 watt or higher?

    Total setup:

    2 x 560's
    2-4 HDDS (eventually - 2 SSDS/2 storage)
    9-11 fans
    Antec 1100 case
    SB OC 4.6

850 should do the job for all that right?

oh and another thing; any chance of a screenshot of your PC config? If that would be okay, maybe i could learn a few things on how your H80 is setup to your PC (and to see if its a messy PC )

I wish Asus would build power supplys I would switch in a hartbeat. Not that seasonic are not world class because they are. just Asus would build them even better.

go for a 1000w whit that setup to be on the safe side, becouse the 2 cards run 2 x 6pin for power on each.
and if you have another pc that have a psu that need to be changed you can try whit the 850w for starters.
    but thats my opinion.
what sort of 560 is it? dcII or dc2 or top?
i got 2 as you can see in my spec
    CPU: i5-3570K | MB: M5F | Mem: 16GB dominator platinum | GPU: 2x GTX560 Ti TOP | SSD: 3 x OCZ 120gb | PSU: Fractal 1000W | CPU cooling: internal water | Monitor: LG 47" ( main ( tv ) ), acer 24" s242hl
