Maximus V Gene - Bios update request

    Hi,

Can we please have full control over fan speeds and temperatures for all fan headers [CPU_FAN, CPU_OPT, CHA_FAN1, CHA_FAN_2, CHA_FAN3]

Having a minimum option of 60% at 40oC is way to high, especially if you use watercooling or modern fans. i have a corsair H100 with 4 x noctua NF-F12 PWM fans (2 push, 2 pull) so i have the 2 push fans in CPU_FAN and the 2 pull fans in CHA_FAN3.

Because of the different voltages that each header puts out, it is very hard, well impossible to get a sensible fan speed control / noise control / temperature control.

CPU_FAN header is great... it allows 20% at 20oC why not the others????

    Rob

    Very good suggestion.

Asus BIOS developers, is this possible?
    Ideal solution would be;

CPU_FAN minimum 20% at 20oC (to ensure the CPU fan is ALWAYS running)
    CPU_OPT same as CPU_FAN
CHA_FAN1, CHA_FAN2, CHA_FAN3 completely user definable 0% to 100% fan duty as stated in the Motherboard User Guide. mbpage.JPG with minimum temperatues from 20oC too.

I am trying to build a quiet desktop PC, but at the moment, it isn't possible using this motherboard because of these BIOS limitations.
I have tried to use AI Suite II, XPERT FAN 2 but no joy, again it will not let me control the fans how i need to, i.e. fans starting at set temps at low duties, ramping up to their maximum amounts.

I understand that not all fans can use such features, but many can.

I do not want to change my motherboard for another make, but if I have to then I will. Having a quiet PC at idle is a necessity for me, if i have to lose the £150 i spent on it sobeit, because the cost of the rest of my quiet Pc cost much more.

    Thanks in Advance

Asus, do you really think it is acceptable that fans have to run at a minimum of 60% duty cycle at 40oC? why?
On my i7 4.6Ghz rig, at idle and general work, browsing, word, excel etc, i only need my 2 push fans(exhaust) on my h100 at 30%, all other fans off.
At 100% CPU benchmarking for 8 hours, I can hold a steady 70oC (core temps) at 50% push fans, 50% pull fans, and 36% on my 2 front intake fans.......
Your enthusiast boards are for ..well enthusiasts! people that know what they want, and need the tools to do what they need, of course understanding the limitations of components, fans etc.
If you can not supply what your manuals say they can do for technical reasons or whatever, please say so.... i'm happy to RMA my board and get another from another supplier that can do what their manuals say they can do.....
If you are looking into this, or are planning an update, please respond to this so that we know.....
Of course, if you don't care about this, then i guess just don't respond!

    One from me aswell.
My exhust is running at 70% or 900rpm minimum on smart mode also while your at it any chance of letting us control 3pin Cpu fans from the cpu headers as well. i.e. "noctua"

This might be something else, but could be related. I've just posted this thread:

    http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...untry=&status=

My CPU fan thinks it should spin at around 1600rpm on silent setting. Reading this thread makes me wonder if it is indeed because my cpu temp (silent operation) idles at around 40oC ?

If this is the case then i join the movement here for a bios change

thanks Dafojk, sorry you are also having the same problems as me, but it seems ASUS don't care about such things, or providing what their manuals says it can......

2 weeks now... not a single response from ASUS, not even from PM i sent..........

I'm going to give them one final week to respond with something...... then i will be RMAing the board back as it clearly does not do what it is supposed to, or what the manual says it can do....... I suggest you do the same Dafojk..... maybe after they get so many returns they will do something about it......
