could someone please tell me why memtest crashes @ 3% when running all 8 cores but yet works fine for 9 hours with only 6 activated (having the last two disabled).

i updated the video card bios/driver, installed the latest direct x stuff, and running in 6 cores and NO problems yet. downloaded and preinstalled client for diablo 3 no issues, even ran a game of sc2 with a friend online at high graphics and large resolution with diablo 3 downloading and no problems. going to cross my fingers and hope i get no more issues. this is with ram in dual channel with timings set with 1600 profile.

set your cpu voltage manually ..last 2 cores could be a little juice hungery .. 1.35v.. i'd also turn off turbo mode..
    will you be overclocking ?

The reason could be because the memory controller is on the CPU and possibly when the full 8 cores are enabled the CPU is unstable and therefore the memory controller is unstable. It could also be that the temps are so much higher when the full 8 cores are running, or it could be that two of the cores are defective.

well still an issue... installing diablo 3 and then it freezes after so long.

went to frys grabbed more ram (AMD memory 8gb 2x4gb 1600mhz) and then picked up a cheap 1tb hdd just incase.

got home installed the ram and same thing crash and burn.

put the new hdd in installed same os and works no problem.

going to be updating the vertex 4 ssd with the newest firm. really sucked thought i would not get to play my 48hour marathon on d3 release.

my question now is what should i do with this ram? i got 2x8 16gb gskill ripjaws and 2x4 8gb amd ram.

thank all you guys for helping me with this, i remembered loved my asus a7n8x-deluxe and this forum just help me remember why i like asus.

Mate you can never have too much ram. Or simply sell it.

Very pleased that you have sorted your system out and you just enjoy your system.
