Screen going to funky colors and computer not shutting down!!!!!!!!

ok guys, just watching a little youtube and all the sudden the screen goes to a bunch of pinks and blues. i could still see the picture of the video i was watching but it wouldn't let me get out of the page. i tried control, alt, delete, and escape and npthing. i had to shut it down using the power buttons. any ideas would be greatful. computer does come back on without issues as of right now. i updated my driver a while back to the newest nvidia driver. i wonder if that could be it. never had this problem before.

I think you understand what happened. Use Windows System Restore to undo the installation of your current video driver.

hey dstrakele if you or brody would chime in it would be appreciated. i was going through the threads and posts trying to find the last stable( with no issues) graphics driver before i uninstall 296.10 and delete out of device manager. could you point me in the right direction. i have downloaded 285.62 and 296.16 but i was reading somewhere that 285.74 was probably the best one as of yet if i'm correct. if so where can i find the sucker?

p.s. could you explain the system restore option you are telling me about? could i not just go into devive manager, uninstall the driver and then when it gives me the option, delete it and then reinstall the older one?

p.s.s. i just seen the roll back option in the driver install box. is this wise to use?

WOW! That was quite an emotional rollercoaster ride! Glad to hear you got it workin'! 295.73 would be my choice for the most recent, stable NVIDIA driver.

But remember, if you're going to uninstall an NVIDIA driver in the future, do it from "Control Panel - Uninstall a program".

Better yet, if you choose to install a new video driver, go to Windows System Restore and create a new Restore Point first. Then you can easily undo the installation if you encounter video problems.

296.10 came out right on the heels of 295.73, presumably to fix some problem with it. But it seems to be giving folks "pink screen" issues, as does the 301.24 BETA.

Same problem happened to me I think it has to do with the 301 beta.
