dont be afraid to push more vcore, i have my 2500k at 1.44-1.45 for nearly a year with no degrading at all
you should be able to hit near 5 ghz on that chip
Update! Here I am with 4.8ghz @ 1.38 vcore with prime running for only 1 hour so far. going to let it run for a while see if it BSODs or locks up.

Another update! 5ghz @ 1.43 vcore, started here going to try to work my way back down to 1.4. What is the max vcore before I put to much stress on my cpu. Prime only been running for 20 minutes so I am sure my temps will hit high 60s or low 70s. I cannot honestly notice any difference between my setup at 4.6 and this. I am sure for benching it will improve but I am not much of a benchmarker.

PS. Looking at my temps core 1 and core 2 are noticeably higher, should I reseat my waterblock on my cpu ? Maybe its not making good contact or I messed up the paste ?

Your two (hot) cores are within acceptable tolerances I do not think a remount is needed or will make any difference. But you have nothing to loose either by doing one.

Wow, nice chip. 5ghz @ 1.43.
I too have a 2700K on a Maximus IV Extreme-Z and can only run at 4.8@1.42, 4.8@1.45 and 5.0@1.485 At 5ghz, I top out in the low 80's and that's on a 360mm radiator. While I don't really care about the longevity of the chip it just heats up my room too much XD. I've settled on 4.8 @ 1.42. On that note, your 5.0ghz @ 1.43 is perfectly fine for a 24/7 setup.
Thanks Syan! Sounds like you got a beast system on your end. Yeah I been running at 5.0 24/7 no BSODs or crashes yet *knock on wood. I had to step up to around 1.45 vcore on max load in order to get my system to boot using offset due to the idle voltage being way to low to boot into windows.
I'm very surprised to see your cpu power usage during prime95 torture test. It is using up to 106.7watts. I'm curring using i7-3960x CPU on the ASUS R4E board with 64gb ram installed @1600mhz. During stress test using prime95, the power usage by the cpu as shown in the core temp program is 224watts! nearly twice as yours, and my core temp at 4.4ghz oc is at 73-85celcius on corsair h100 push-pull cooling setup. Any experts here care to explain why i7-3960x consumes so much power and do yo think the core temps are way too high. This is the first time I build my own rig so I do not know the normal temperature range for this cpu.

It must be a sensor or interpretation problem there! it's physically impossible to have 106.7W at 5GHZ and 1.43 Vcore...
It's much realistic ALEXCYT's value of 224W for his 3690X... However, at 85C you may reached the upper safe limit of that CPU... I would not push the frequencies higher with the present cooling setup or without possibility to decrease the voltages... BTW, what's your Vcore ALEXCYT?
