Crosshair IV Formula SSD and RAID 1 configuration

Hello, this is my first post on this forum maybe you guys can help

I just got an Intel 330 Series SSD (120GB) its SATA 6.0 and is rated to read 500mb/s and write 450mb/s. I also have two 1TB hard disks configured in RAID 1.

The problem is that when I benchmark the SSD, its only reading at about 350 and writing at 150 according to crystal disk mark.

My hunch is that this is because I don't have my BIOS set to AHCI, and I can't figure out how to do it with my raid (screenshot attached)

    any ideas?
    Thanks, Steve

    Indeed he does thank you.

I should have been more clear, I suspect it is because the drive is not connected to a SATA 6G port.

Is your SSD connected to a red or the black port?

Well that sorts out any hope of an easy fix and simply swapping to a 6GB port.

When you are in RAID the other ports on the same controller will be set to AHCI automatically.

Out of interest how full is the SSD? And has it been used for very long?

Ok I've re-read this post several times plus done a lot of searching in between my difficulties here and came to this conclusion.
    1) Your SSD is a 6G
    2) Your HDD's are a 3G
    3) your CHIVF is being pulled down to 3G because of the HDD's even though your set for 6G.

Now the only fix for this is to go out and get some of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...TA%206.0Gb%2fs, Your Choice. This will allow your 6G performance to come up to 6G of your SDD.

Now for the second part It doesn't matter a bit if you have all of your Ports set to Raid the Drives not set into a RAID will automaticlly drop into AHCI Mode and not Hard Drive Mode which is what you want.

I hope this is of help. I also have a CHIVF with the same basic setup but I'm running in 3G and no SSD yet(But soon). Thank you for putting up this question it has reminded me of another thing that I'm going to need to do when I get my SSD.

I'd hate to burst all your bubbles, but the two 1TB hard disks actually are 6.0. These are the drives

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136533

Looking back on my newegg records, I purchased these on may 9, 2010 and for some reason they were only $110 each. I remember these being some of the only affordable 6.0 drives at that time. Maybe they arn't truly 6.0? or wern't at that time?

as for the SSD, I just got it one week ago and its less than half full. I have windows installed on it and a few apps.
