ASUS G55VW very bad performance on some games.

I just bought the ASUS G55VW with GTX660M Full HD Screen with Intel Core i7-3610QM.

I am having A BIG BIG issues with Diablo 3 I am not joking.
I have installed all drivers from the asus site but I think there is something wrong with the nvidia drivers and I cant find any other. The laptop doesnt have any heating issues so far I even dont hear the fans.
I am on High Performance power mode and Diablo 3 on full hd runs like crap. It has lag spikes every 30seconds the FOG makes FPS like 2 times lower and I dont know what the issue is.
Can it be because of the CPU turbo boost is not working or something like that ? I doubt because I think the particles effects are handled 100% at GPU and I see the biggest lags on a lot of particle effects.

Playing the game on LOW or HIGH doesnt make any difference the lag is almost the same (AA of course makes things slower)

For compare I can say that Skyrim works like a charm with FXAA enabled... but Diablo 3 is almost unplayable.

I have a desktop PC with ASUS GTX 560 TI and intel I7 2600 and dont have ANY lag on diablo with everything on high and etc.

What can be the problem with ASUS G55 ?
is there some other drivers that I need to install ?? or a Bios upgrade maybe I saw that there is a Bios upgrade but no changelog what is actually changed.

Please help otherwise I should return my laptop (in europe you can return the laptop 7 days after buying it even without a reason)

I have to say I also started thread in blizzard forums http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/top...age=1#new-post maybe it is a game specific issue

P.S. I dont have any other games except Skyrim and Diablo 3 to test with aa League of legends runs fine but this is expected.

Hi! It's the game's problem. It's because of their servers.
You are just lagging. I had the same problem with multiple PCs in the beta.

Wait 3-5 days from now ...

Hi there no it is not because of server lattency or lag. I know the difference I was testing at exact same time on my i7 2600 with GTX 560 Ti also made by Asus and everything works great so it is not because of servers

It is not possible D3 to use the intel HD4000 instead of the GTX right ?
there is no switching between the cards in G55 ?

Blah oki I guess I will run 3D mark 11 and see what score I will get compared to the desktop PC with 560TI and i7 2600k

Nope - it's this laptop. Here is what I did to "fix"theproblem. Keep the laptop plugged in. Turn batteryoption on high performance and shut down ANYTHING running in the backround that you do not need I had the same problem with Skyrim, Rift, and Diablo 3. Ever since I did the above suggestions I hardly ever get spikes...

    Hope this helps

I installed 301.40 beta drivers for nvidia for GTX 680 with modified inf file to make them work on GTX 660.
Also I put the power option of the video card to max performance and now it looks its better but it is far worst then expected.
At least I can play diablo but on 3DMax11 I get like 9-10 fps on the first 2 tests. For compare on my GTX 560Ti and desktop i7 2600k I get around 19 fps on this 2 tests. Ivy bridge = ****

It's a low power Ivy bridge chip though - without Turbo it's limited to 2.3GHz across 8 threads, so it's not comparable to the 2500K at 3.3++GHz.

I've tested Crysis, Skyrim, BF3 and ME3 today on it and don't get any stuttering - in fact I'm wondering how close the 660M is to the 670M! I've not got D3 to test yet though.

And yes, it's better you keep it plugged in when gaming because Windows/drivers has automatic power savings, even under high performance.

The reason you shouldn't and basically can't play properly on battery, is because the battery isn't powerful enough to drive the system on full throttle, so to speak.

The system itself (especially the GPU, and CPU) draws more power than the battery has to give. It's all about the Watts.

Apparently many don't think (or know) about this.

One exception though, was the Alienware M11X R1,2 and 3. Which has a really powerful battery for it's size, and can actually go full out on battery.

Back to the G55 and G75, there's a reason the power supply is as big and powerful as it is (and pulls out more watts than the battery can).

    Cheers!
