I am in a suburban area with lots of houses and fences. There are a few times per year when it gets pretty gusty but I think most of the time there isn't enough wind to make it viable. I appreciate the suggestion though.

Ho ok then yeah you are better with solar only unless you can have a freaking high pole XD It's just sad that those solar system are such expensiveboth our gouv should put some tax return when you buy these so people would have some interest in clean power. The more they sell, the more the price go down and the research goes up

There are a lot of rebate incentives already but the problem is that solar is just expensive due to a few rare materials and the manufacturing process. I've seen some research showing viable replacements for some of the rare elements used and simpler construction using alternate substrates. If these things make it to market then things should change quite a bit. In some cases the efficiency isn't as high as current solutions but if they cost half or less then I think a lot more people would be able to afford them for at least part of their power needs.

Is it from the Federal or from the states? On this side of the frontier thereis a terrible lack of program not only for incentives but to help the dealer to carry them. So few place sell solar panel. Many people back at the fishing camp still use fuel generator only because they haev done few search and find nothing ( just to lazy to search enough ). But well, hope that future will be better for alternative energy solution
Quick question, I am right or there is a big solar park in CA? maybe I am looking at the wrong state.

It is a state thing. California has a strong "green" culture so while we are still a large consumer we've been making efforts to make being green a bit easier. We have incentives for private parties to go solar and we have a schedule over the next decade requiring the power companies to use an increasing percentage of renewable energy. That's part of the reason why California's power is expensive because we are enforcing change which is expensive.

Solel has signed a contract with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to build the world's largest solar plant in the Mojave Desert. When fully operational in 2011, the proposed Mojave Solar Park will have an installed capacity of 553 megawatts of solar power, calculated to power 400,000 homes, to PG&E’s customers in northern and central California. The plant will cover up to 6,000 acres (2,400 ha) of land.
Most solar fields are in other nearby states with less population.

these are all really good ideas. if there was a way to put up either solar panels or a wind tubine that can pull alot of power with out spending 20K i would be up for it
Well, a windturbine can put around 600W for under 800$ Then add maybe 2-3K of battery and the bill of the guy to plug this to your power source might end around 5K. Youcan always leave open outlet so you can add more battery and turbine or solar panel when money allow it. But is it worth over time? who know![]()
