Well, the Intel Rapid Storage Technology ROM utility supports max 4 HDDs (identical ones) on your mobo... (manual page #4-25)

You also may consider a RAID card in PCI-E slot (like a LSI MegaRaid).

Are you sure of that Zka17 the manual does indicate on page 4-25 and I quote; "Select 2 to 6 disks to use in creating the volume."

Yes, Sir, i'm sure! However, I see what you're saying too...

Here is a screenshot from the manual, page #4-25:

    Attachment 8778

Green arrows (top of the page) shows what I wrote, the red arrows (bottom of the page) point to what HiVizMan said.

Now, which one is correct?! I did setup a RAID 5 on a RIVE board with 4 disks, and I'm sure that's working. Sincerely, never tried a RAID array with more than 4 disks in my life on any mobo... If it works or not with 6 disks on this mobo, I don't know. Hope that someone here can answer that...

    GUYS... THIS IS POSSIBLE !!!

I buyed this mobo yesterday, migrating from Rampage III to Rampage IV.

Move all (5 SATA II) to Intel Raid Ports (black and red) and Intel Raid has imported my old raid disks to new mobo. This raid chip support create ONE Raid (5 in my case) with all SATA ports (6). No RAID limitations !!

    Mi current config:

INTEL RED (SATA6GB_1) = Corssair SSD Disk 128 GB
    RAID 5 = INTEL RED (SATA6GB_2) + 4 INTEL BLACK (Sata3GB) = 5 WD 500 GB 7200 rpm 32mb

Its alive !!! ASUS mobo manual is wrong.

    yeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa !!!!

Excellent, happy to hear that you make it!

Maybe, in the manual were some outdated infos... As I said, never went above 4 disks for a RAID before, and I was thinking that that's the limit anyway - now, is good to know that I could! Of course, will need more drives for that...
