has anyone noticed that the asus g55vW vent in the right side is closed? very confusing..the right vent is totally blocked..why? please help by replying here..thanks
Ya, my G55VW also got the same vent design. Not sure why.
Yes, some of the right side is closed intentionally because that's where the battery is. flip it over and take a look

When I get reeeally sad about missing someone far away, I just take a deep cleansing breath, then switch to the rifle with a scope.
Can you explain why the vent is closed? Why does it matter that the battery is there? Looks like an assembly error

Asus advertises the G55VW as having an Intelligent cooling with dual rear venting system.
Does this mean that it comes with 2 cooling systems, one for the microprocessor & one of the graphics card (1 fan each)?
Or do both of them share the same fan?

Yes two fans and heatpipes - independently monitoring the GPU and CPU, output to one large, central vent. Aesthetically this vent is split in two, but the battery has to go somewhere, which is why it is blanked! Naturally the thickest point gives the most room for the 8 cell. Pop out the battery and see for yourself - it's absolutely not an error. They didn't make the vent smaller because symmetry is more visually pleasing. Technology doesn't adhere to human rules of beauty though - it's entirely functional.
If you watch the G55/G75 video you'll see the two cooling fans clearly - it's an accurate representation of the construction.

my gf's G74 has the same thing goin on, i thought it was strange till i noticed they put the batterry there on the side instead of the middle, like the g73/g75. regardless, there ARE two seperate cooling systems, if you look closely you can see that there are two heatsinks in there side by side, not just one.
