Dirty low down snake belly spammers

Seem like we are getting spammed to the gills with no end in site. How can it be stopped? Today was so bad with spam. I hate them.

We ban IPs but still the 41.xxx.xxx.xxx ranges comes back. There's not much more we can do to load up the site with anti-spam stuff, without pissing off genuine new members.

Sorry guys I needed to take my eldest to the specialist yesterday so was not on forum at all. I normally delete and ban about 100 spammer posters each day.

Seems like I am killing spammers every time I log on. Unfortunately we MODS cannot be sitting in-wait for the bad guys and the Report Post tool is a big help and we do appreciate the members alerting us to the threads and posts as you find them.

Yes, and I was sent to a conference for work so it seems like it was just neither of us being around. That's a rare case though.

Yeah normally there is one of us around to take the trash out when they post.

Maybe a different captcha utility might give better protection. Some of them have been "broken".

Have you tried disabling copy paste possibilities?
Maybe if they cannot copy and paste, they wont spam because they would have to type each time their rubbish.

As a programmer I can tell you that it's impossible to do this. There are tricks you can do with JavaScript & such but they are easily circumvented by a technically savvy person.

It would cause problems for legit users though. I know several people who like to compose in another screen and just paste it into the box before submitting.
