these 3 in just the short time I have been on today. I hate them.
Maybe we need more mods with ban powers?
Yes, possibly. I can think of a few technical tools that might make fewer mods more effective like alerting to suspicious new users who fit a pattern but I'm not sure how much work it would take to create and integrate into VB. The most important thing is that everyone flags the spam posts so that the moderators get an email. Unless someone is going to sit here 24/7 and refresh the page waiting for spam the notifications are the best way for us mods to know when they strike.

How about any member or say select members with more than 200 post(you know they are not spammers by then) be able to ban any one with say 15 or less posts. If a legit new member gets ban he can email a mod and get back on.
Tried to flaga spammer but the system says I can't. Not enough posts from me yet i guess. Right?
DENISMX...hehehe... when u see that .. usually means a MOD already beat them down and they
are being dragged out to the alley behind ROG .. u know .. in the Dell parking lot...hahhahaa
This is getting insane .. good job guys .. what a waste of precious time for the Mods .. but thanks guys.
Maybe .. is it possible for a button to be added to members with over .. say 500 posts to quarintine them
until a 'real' mod is available .. it probably not possible ... but temp. take them out of the post lists ...
or a few more shooters on the wall .. just with 'spam' killing authority ? i dont know .. guessing.
this has been beaten around the bush to nausium ... all i can say is ..
sorry MODS ... but thanks.c.
It's not my decision but for the sake of discussion I'll say that IMHO mob rule is almost never good in the long run regardless of good intention. Without getting personal I'd ask you guys to consider the members of this forum with more than a handful of posts. Many of them lead with their emotions which is a good thing in many areas of life...but not moderation. If all regulars had the ability to ban new users I could see that getting out of hand the first time a newbie posts a controversial opinion somebody doesn't like. And if a new person is put out many won't bother trying to be reinstated so shooting first and talking later won't necessarily work.
My personal opinion is that ASUS could certainly bring one or two more mods in to better cover the day but they should keep the mod team small so that they can keep an eye on us. Since our actions reflect on the ASUS corporate image they need to be aware of what we are doing.

What is a good idea, is to have mods from different countries (xeromist US, HiViz UK) covers quite a lot where time zones are concerned, maybe an Aussie would get the "missing" timezone if we have any on here?
What I find strange is we don't get any spam on the french RoG forums (don't know if its just because its taken away before I see it or if they have a way of beating it)
I'll ask this evening how they do it and get back to you![]()
