    P8Z68-V PRO - can't OC i5 2500K

I'm trying to OC my i5 2500K to 4GHz but the OC doesn't seem to show up in Windows.

In previous BIOSes I was able to OC by changing the CPU ratio and disabling Turbo Boost (as that tends to interfere with overclocking). With BIOS 3203 I can change the CPU ratio but I get no change when I boot into Windows (both AIDA64 and CPU-Z report that my CPU is running at the stock speed of 3.3GHz).

Am I doing something wrong or is the BIOS a dud? I notice that there's a new BIOS version out (3304) but haven't updated yet.

    Hi,

With Sandy Bridge CPU's you will be overclocking with the Turbo Boost Ratio. Now this raises and lowers depending on CPU load. I suggest using the latest version of CPU-Z (1.60) and then then stressing the CPU with a stress test program like Prime95. You should see the multiplier raise to the level which you specified in the BIOS.

Update your BIOS, you should be able to over clock with your multi.

Please do update using the BIOS tool EZflash2 and not via your OS.

I've always used EZ Flash to update my BIOS. Also, 3304 didn't resolve my issue.

I'll grab screenshots of the settings and post them in this thread so you can see what's going on.

EDIT: Grrrr....the screenshots seem to be corrupted somehow. Tried viewing them and got "not a valid bitmap file". Has that happened to anyone else?

EDIT 2: Seems I used a bad USB drive. Changed drive and the screenshot displays properly (only took 1 this time). Here's the pertinent parts of my CPU configuration. Note the Turbo Mode setting, the CPU Ratio setting and the CPU detected. Under BIOSes prior to 3203, this is all I had to do to OC my CPU.

Leave Turbo enabled for overclocking. its effectively the Turbo ratio you are raising. It makes no difference to system stability by leaving this setting at enable. Well I certainly have never seen it make a difference.

Yeah changed Turbo to Enabled and now my OC shows up properly in Windows.

Bit of an odd change from 1101 to 3203.

EDIT: At least 3402 made it easy by enabling Turbo by default when adjusting the CPU multi.
