Memory considerations for z77 rog board

    Yo,

Since buying this board a couple week ago I've been chopping at the bit on which memory sticks I should get.

I heard the speeds have gone way up and wondering which is the best solution/bang for my buck item would be. Money is not an issue but I want to keep it reasonable cost of under 200 dollars.

In the past I have bought Kingston hyperx ram and corsair but am open to any other product out there. I hold no loyalties to hardware makers. Expect Asus of course. This rog board will be my 3 straight Asus motherboard gamer build.

Also in the future I'll be upgrading to a mSata ssd. Does anyone have any wisdom to share on this items too?

    My current gamer pc build:

    intel 3rd gen i5 3570K CPU
Asus 560 TI Nvidia vid card
    Asus maximus v gene
8 gig kit 2 x 4gigs of kingston 1333 ram (looking to upgrade this to 16 gig and faster speed)
750 gig WD black with a 64 gig kingston ssd for intel caching

I'm also going to upgrade to a 670 or 680 at some point too.

you could upgrade to whatever you want but just expect a big huge gain. but increasing the speed and capacity isnt goin to make a big deal of difference. if its for gaming, how many games use 8gb of ram? i would suggest 1600mhz with a good xmp, but its your decision. Spending more isnt goin to yield mind blowing results. I'd suggest stick with the 125$ amount and save for the 680 and you should be good for a year..if your a tinkerer

Aye tinkering makes everything better just like bacon. Makes everything better.

I was just looking at some numbers on toms hardware listing the different scores with higher ram speeds. You're right focus on the msata chip and ssd and new video card 600 series. I'm also eventually going to run some vmware on it and go totally crazy with that board. Everything is going according to plan.
