Hello Eeveryone...my 1st build, I'm Ambitious LOL but need help configuring Memory

Below in my signature, you can see what I have...but I'm missing one part, the memory. As I've never done this before I figured memory was memory, but after reading the internet for the past month, I still cannot find out what the best, fastest (timing/no conflict) memory to put in my build.

I've read where others have had issues with MOBO not reading it etc.

I've got the 1.5V down and reading the MOBO manual I see that I will space out the sticks, but what of the sticks themselves CMZ, CMD, CMP, C8, C9, etc. Dominator, Vengeance, Black, Red, Gold, Blue, 1600, 1866 HELP!!!

I want to go with 4x8gb (32) and I can spend about $400.00.

I'm opting for a OCZ vertex 4 512 SSD and no HDD. I might attach an external for storage.

I've been playing BF3 on a gateway mini tower...can you imagine...LOL Stopped playing it last year no way to compete whatsoever.

So I'm ready to have something that will allow me to at least get a shot off :-)

    Welcome to the ROG forum!

If you want to go with Corsair memories, here is a link to find compatible ones with your mobo: http://www.corsair.com/learn_n_explore?id=12373

With the RIVE board, however, you can see all around the internet that people are going more for GSkill memories. Here is the link for their RAM configurator: http://www.gskill.com/configurator.php

As for the specs, higher the frequency and lower the timings = better memories! Although, as you going up with the frequency, you must accept higher voltages - because of stability things. 1600MHz RAMs are good enough for everyday use, but if you want to overclock, you should go as high in the frequency as you can afford.

That is one sweet build you are working on there Marine .. and Welcome to theROGforum...

32Gb or Ram ... Why ? .... there is no advantage to that unless you plan huge apps running in
the background while your playing ...
Personally .. id double up on the GPU's before id double up on the RAM ....

as to the memory .. i almost without exception go with DomGT .. but different boards and
cpu's like what they like ... depending on what you are actually doing with the rig ...
sounds like its life will be lived ... killing, slashing and blowing things up ... GAME ON ..
I go AMD .. so have not had the opportunity to touch this work of art...
... someone has tested this board here for the sweet spots .. and may have other ideas for 'this' board/cpu.
Me? I'd put DomGT in anything with a motherboard if ya hold its head ....

BestOF Luck friend .. dont be bashful ... We leave NO ROG'z behind and now ur family.c.

Thank you gents for your reply. I found some Dominator GT CMT32GX3M4X1866C9 on newegg.

Looks like it might be a few weeks before I can get the GPU...thought I was going to get it yesterday. I live near Silicon Valley here in California, called in the morning, they had two. Its a two hour drive so before I left (in the afternoon) I called again, they sold out of both 680 DCT2's and ever other website I looked at are "out of stock" accept one that had it for sale for $1,500.00, I don't think so...LOL.

And yes, I do plan, if I can ever get the first one, on adding another 680 down the road, but I want to learn my way around the board and oc before I do that as I hear that sometimes SLI can cause stability issues...I'm no tech so if I run into issues, I'll be screwed.

Yeap, can wait to get it up and running.

HOT DAMN, Newegg had the Asus GTX 680 DC2T this morning and I grabbed it...lucky I did, a few minutes later I went back and they were out of stock again. I have UPS number so I have confirmation that the card IS being shipped.

So, I'll be building it sooner than later now, HECK YEAH!!!!.

So here's the final, and thank you for directing me to the memory configuration:

    OS: Win 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit
Tower: CM HAF X Full Tower ATX - purchased 1 extra Cooler Master Megaflow 200 for the top
    MOBO: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
CPU: i7-3930K with IC diamond 24 Carat
    CPU Cooler: Corsair H100
    PSU: AX1200
SSD: OCZ Vertex 4 Indilinx 512GB SSD
    Memory: CORSAIR Dominator GT 32GB (4 x 8GB)
    Video Card: ASUS GTX680-DC2T-2GD5
    Monitor: ASUS VE278Q Black 27" 1920x1080 2ms
Head set: Storm Sirus True 5.1
DVD: LG Super Multi Blue-Ray BH14XL
KB: Razer Black Widow Ultimate Stealth
    Mouse: Razor Nega Mouse.

So, now, WHAT THE HELL DO I DO WITH ALL THESE WIRES....LOL

As I said this is my first build, never done this before...guess I'll hire a local tech to come over and connect the wires and start it up to configure the BIOS, which I know nothing about.

    I love a good adventure...LOL.

I've watched, I'm guessing over 100 videos, read over 300 posts about reviews for all the parts, but I haven't seen one video that shows you step by step where to put the wires...LOL

Very nice hardware, cable management has always been my week spot, I just cram all the wires behind something telling myself I will clean it up later.

Well, I built it and had someone help me with all the wires and make sure my BIOS was all set correctly and it works awesome!!! WOW the graphics in ALL my games, SP and MULTI are so awesome, it's like I bought all new games, compared to the mini Gateway tower desktop I was "trying" to play on. After I tallied up everything I spent I was shocked, however, in the future I can replace and/or upgrade much cheaper.

I would suggest for anyone playing BF3, do not try and play it with a stock over the counter computer you buy off the shelf. That was my mistake. This system rocks and all this time I've been reading about how noisy fans and cards can be, so far I can't even here the thing run...if the lights were not on inside, I'd think it was off...LOL.

I learned a lot building this system and more importantly that very few people working at Fry's don't know their backside from their front side when it comes to detailed tech info on the parts they sell...they are only there to SELL!!!.

Example: Displayport cable vs. HDMI/DVI etc. Because Displayport cable is fiber-optic, although the human eye will not detect the difference in speed of the latency between the card and the monitor, the speed of transmitting information is much faster.

And, now that I see where all the wires go I'll not need any help the next time...LOL

As I progress with learning my system, I'll delve into OC, but for now the automatic OC of my card and the CPU is working just fine...awesome system.

The only new thing I learned that I don't like with my new system, is that I suck at these games...LOL Guess old stiff hands and slower reflexes can't match the younger or seasoned gamers...LOL
