If you’re eyeing up a G75VW as your new ROG gaming laptop you might be asking; how well can it play games? I’ve already covered G55VW gaming performance, and now we’ve put the upgraded GeForce GTX 670M through the same set of tests in the G75VW. Its Full HD screen means it has more work to do in generating a smooth and playable FPS, with no minimum FPS dropping short causing stutter.

Using the same method as our G55VW and [url=http://rog.asus.com/111532012/rog-desktop-pcs/rog-tytan-cg8580-gaming-performance-at-1920x1080-and-5760x1080/]Tytan CG8580[/url testing, I’ve concentrated on giving you the best playable settings in top tier PC titles, in order to translate these directly to your own system.

G75VW Test Specification:
Intel Core i7-3610QM (2.3GHz x4, 3.3GHz Turbo Boost)
Nvidia GeForce GTX670M with 3GB VRAM (336 shaders @ 600/1,200MHz)
8GB DDR3 1,600MHz
750GB Western Digital Black HDD (ACHI mode)
Full HD (1920 x 1080) LED backlit display (non-3D)

Faster versions of the G75VW are available, so if you buy one with at least the above specification then you know the following IQ settings are playable in the following games (or future titles using the same engine).


Battlefield 3
1920 x 1080: All High, or the custom settings below.

If you don’t want to mess about with a nuances of customization putting the graphics setting to High affords very playable FPS. Unless you’re the most twitch-sensitive gamer, I found this gives a great balance of visual IQ and capable FPS.

We did find the system could be pushed a little more, which was fine in single player to make everything look that much tastier, but the multiplayer experience varies more and there’s less space overhead here for more likely FPS dips.



Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
1920 x 1080 – Ultra, 4x AA, 16x AF

8x AA was a no-go, but 4x AA – matching the GTX 660M in the G55VW – was perfectly playable.



Mass Effect 3
1920 x 1080 – Everything on Max

As was with the G55VW, Mass Effect 3′s game engine gets churned through by the latest GTX 670M. Turn everything on and have some fun!

Nvidia lists the 670m memory speed @ 1500, but the asus benchmark review says 1200 what gives ?

Nvidia control panel reads 1500MHz (3GHz effective) as well. Benchmarkreviews have made a typo sorry.

Yes this is a very fast computer the "G75vw" with the 670m GPU and battlefield 3 runs just like they said. I added a samsung ssd 128GB drive and that makes everything even faster. I did a fresh install of Win 7 with the needed drivers & MSE . Screen is the best I have ever had, also happy to report very low noise and all the heat goes out the back away from you during gaming.

I received this notebook 2 weeks ago and have been loving it ever sense. My question is can you guys give some stats on performance from both Super MNC and Tribes Ascend? I cannot even get them to run let alone have any specifications on those games. Is there something wrong with them? From what I've understood there is a problem with the Phys-X driver and that for most they had to downgrade the video drivers. How can I do that?

Also for those wanting to play Diablo III... This unit does a great job. It can handle everything the game has to throw at it with max settings. Any/all slow downs I have seen come from lag in the game because it is played online. To be honest I die more from rubberbanding than I do from any framerate drops (which I have yet to see). The game is not really graphic intensive like the ones above are.

I am loving the G75vw, mine is the t1013v with 16gb, 256 ssd/1tb hdd, 670M. Playing BF3 on ultra, nice and smooth. Looks great next to my G74sx.

Yes, even the 660M can do BF3 on Ultra rather smooth.

The 670M OC a little can run it even better. It's amazing to see how cool this laptop runs.

I recently baught an ASUS G75VW-BBK5 the cheaper version. With Nvidea Geforce 660M . 2GB. The gameplay is amazing with the Best Buy version as far as I can tell on max settings on Tribes Ascend and max on MW3. The only problem is the 5400 1TB hard drive. Which I want to upgrade to another double SSD at some point in the future. To make everything load 50x faster. But now this is perfect for me just a tad slow but dont really notice it. Unlike my old computer. So yes the G75VW any version is the Beast Of A Mahine. Especially for your moneys worth. And for gaming any of them is all you well need. You just might want to upgrade software to better ROG/ASUS software as it gets better.
