I bite the bullet and order the Everki Black Titan Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Backpack fits up to 18.4' Model EKP120 from newegg.com.
My G75 3D came with a backpack, and a very nice one at that. I knew it came with one but I was expecting a kind of cheap canvas bag. What I got was surprisingly high quality. I don't see it available for sale on the Asus site though.
And if you have a little extra money for the Titan, it IS the way to go. Even it was TIGHT fit for the laptop pad sleeve in the Titan (but this might loosen up a bit with time). But the space in that section is plentiful. So much I wanted to maybe ADD something to this thread with my Mod: Take cheap pipe insulation (gray foam, $1.97 at Home Depot) and cut in half so you have half-circle of it, then you can fit this in the bottom and bend around both bottom corners. There is room for this in the Titan, which I don't know if would work even in the Everki Beakon or other models. With that, you have nice, cheap, light extra padding on the most exposed, potential damage points.
